Should I wait for the next model?

As you guys may heard, there maybe a possibilities of the next Clevo/Sager models be announced within this year. (It's July right now btw)

My assumption is that the P650sg may get upgraded with 990m, Broadwell / Skylake CPU, and other improvements
I don't have to get a gaming laptop now, so is it worthwhile to wait for a better models?
Does anyone know the date cycle for most of the Clevo laptops?
    Thank you

A couple questions to ask yourself.
Do you need the laptop now? If no go to next question, otherwise buy now.
Do you need the improvements that the next models may provide (better CPU, GPU, ddr4, thunderbolt, etc)? If no go to next question, otherwise wait.
What is more important to you: getting your laptop sooner, or waiting a couple months and getting an updated laptop later at potentially a higher price?

As I understand the refreshes will contain skylake (or atleast the P7xxzm refreshes will) and with skylake comes ddr4 memory. Expect about a 10% performance improvement, however the new tech may cost more. If the P650sg only gets a broadwell refresh then expect a small performance boost and cooler temperatures (not that the temps were ever an issue to begin with).

I've only seen rumors and speculation surrounding 990m, so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it. There may be other upgrades coming in the P650sg (such as thunderbolt) however I haven't followed that model so I can't tell you much.

Ultimately, use your better judgement to decide when to buy. If the current model will fulfill whatever needs you may have for the machine then I would suggest you just buy now. There is always something new and better on the horizon and waiting months to pay a premium for new tech that will only remain the latest for another couple months feels like a waste to me.

Yea! That's what I had heard, but how likely 990m will be installed to P650SG?

IF a 990m is coming in the near future (I can't find any credible information/news on this topic) it likely wouldn't make it into the p650SG refresh.

The issue is that the p650SG has its GPU soldered to the mobo and could not be simply swapped for a 990m by clevo. The system would likely also need to see a cooling redesign to handle the dual GPUs that would be in a 990m.

Since a refresh of the 980M would be the same pin out I don't see why not, it would be a simple matter of soldering a different chip and updating the integrated vbios.

    That's what I am wonder.

What will the refresh of P650SG be?

    990m, or just Skylake?

It would be nice if that's true, but think about the power consumption and the cooling solution of it.
Everything has a trade off :-(

A more enabled core will be more efficient per watt so there are gains to be made there.
