I've searched and the past threads confused more than anything..
So basically silent mode downclocks the cpu and reduce fan speed right?
How does this work with rmclock?

Right now I'm undervolted and rmclock is running 24/7. If I put silent mode on, my P9600 still goes up to 2.66ghz (used rmclock and rivatuner to show clocks). So what does silent mode do..? Or is rmclock bypassing silent mode and still going to 2.66ghz?

I'm confused (sorry if this was already posted)

Silent mode actually halfs the speed of the processor from what I've seen. I believe RMClock does a better job at it though, so I suggest you just use that. I think silent mode benefits from that point is to just stop the fan from cycling so much if at all and thus get some energy savings from that. However, this machine pushes 2 and a half hours regardless once undervolted.

3 would be achieved by gpu undervolting, but I haven't touched that yet nor do I think I want to.

How I know is that the cpu whine I normally hear (which has decreased with BIOS updates) becomes silent.

And it seems your laptop goes out of silent mode once it wakes up from sleep or restarts.

I find myself wondering the same thing. I live in a pretty noisy area so I can barely even hear my fan when it is full force let alone on silent mode. When I hit the silent mode button a little splash screen used to pop up and tell me it was activated but it doesn't do that any more.

Normally, when silent mode is activated a box will show in the upper left corner. Same when you go back to normal mode.

That's the box I was talking about, but mine doesn't appear any more.

I never get that box. When I use silent mode, I have to pick up the notebook and put it up to my ear to hear if the fan slowed down or not. You have to push the button all the way down. Id rather get a pop up telling me that it is shut of tho.

Any of you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the hotkey software?

I've found that RMclock does not undervolt as low as the OEM settings. I no longer use RMclock on my rig.

I took out the hotkey software, because I didn't like the popup box. It stutters my gaming when it pops if i hit the volume or brightness or silent mode keys. Not anymore! :)

    Yeah, what oem settings?

Turning on silent mode doesn´t undervolt or downclock the CPU. That does not happen on my M570RU. Only thing that is affected is the fans, thats all.

Silent mode is only for TU series, RU only has a fan reducement.

I don´t use rmclock, normally with silent mode on cpu will auto downclock to lowest multi, VID also.

    Well, that explains it all.

Either way, i use RMClock to undervolt the CPU in all modes, and it undervolts pretty well. My T7500 @2.2Ghz x11 multiplier is at 1.0375v and even the x7 multiplier is at the lowest possible wich is 0.85v.
