    always wondered if skinning a notebook is not good for heat dissipation...still wondering...

    your idea sounds great to do on a laser etching. perhaps bullet holes as if the laptop were a windshield.

    I dont think it would affect heat, i mean most of the heat goes out through the vents anyways

    Probably doesn't make much of a difference, if any, since heat dissipation is done through exhausting the air from the internal cavity, not through radiation from the shell of the notebook. In particular, the materials used to make the shell are not particularly conductive, and the skinning material is generally about the same in terms of conducting heat, so I doubt if adding a skin would reduce the radiative heat to the point where it caused any noticeable change to the temps inside the cavity.
