Lets talk about our skkyrim performance now that patches and new drivers have come out. As well as community tweaks and "fixes" for the game.

Post your system and your "stock" performance before any of the new perf fix things are added to the game, then add them and post that too. A before and after if you will. Post your drivers and all other prevalent data like ingame settings.

I want to see if the new performance boosting fixes like that CPU optimization thing and the others, are making as big a diff as the community at large seems to believe.

    My setup: Clevo P150HM - 2630QM, 8GB RAM, 500GB Seagate 7200RPM, Radeon HD 6990m, 95% Color Gamut Matte Display

Skyrim performance after I updated my GPU drivers shot through the roof. Before I updated, I got around 30fps on Ultra settings with everything maxed and AA turned completely off. Frames would dip into the low 20's in large towns like Solitude, Riften, and Whiterun but otherwise stayed a constant 30 - 40 fps. After the update and with the exact same settings I get an almost constant 60fps. Frames still dip in towns to the 30's, but only in very specific spots. Team Fortress was unplayable at max settings, I had to play it at not high, but MEDIUM settings to get smooth frames. After the update the game runs a constant 60fps on max settings with 8x AA and 16x AF and never dips at all.

Highly recommend modding the game chaps there is one mod here:

    TESV Acceleration Layer.

In CPU intensive areas which cause your FPS to drop this resolves the problem. You know when you walk to the top of the steps in Whiterun and look down over the town and into the distance and your frames suffer, after installing this I got 15 more fps. By far one of the best mods I have installed.

Shadows are the only real thing that cause an issue in this game they look awful and damage the FPS which confirms the laziness when porting it from console to PC. Updates have helped and I generally see 45fps + and higher with the above mod.

    Setup: Clevo P150HM, i7 2760QM, 12GB 1600MHz RAM, Radeon HD 6990M, 160GB Intel 320 SSD. No OC whatsoever.

Running Skyrim with everything on ultra with 16xAF and 2xAA, 1080p, no FXAA. Generally FPS stays around 50-60 but drops down to around 35-40 in some scenes.

I saw that mod in another Skyrim thread, but with my lappy, i'm running the game at 1080p 4xAA 8XAF on ultra and the game runs completely smooth. I still might try it this weekend though, will report back

I have several particle effect mods and high-res texture mods activated, so I use that TESV mod to keep everything running smoothly. :)

To post accurate and comparable performance numbers, you all need to choose a few specific locations to benchmark.

For example: Running from the entrance of Whiterun -> entrance of Dragonsreach -> turn around to overlook the city -> run back to entrance of Whiterun

That was just off the top of my head.
