So its finally arrived yay!!! The 8662 is beautiful however I downloaded the Intel Matrix and it asked me to restart. I tried to restart it however when it powers up again the screen doesn't turn back on. Any idea how to fix this?

did you use the drop down box to pick your right operating system.
are you running 32bit or 64bit vista

also try another re boot. what is running.is fan still spinning or lights on front still on.

I checked the Nvidia control panel and it said 64 bit, as far as I know I used the right one. However is there a way to back up and try again?

Safe mode? After the Bios loads hit the F11 key.

the intel matrix is nothing to do with nvidia. its for your hard drive.

try control panel > backup and restore > repair windows using system restore.

no idea why its done this. had you loaded anything else before.

most prob not this but worth a try. press fn key and f7 to see if somehow it set itself to external monitor which will turn your screen off.

also try brightness fn key and f8 and f9 press f9 first for a few seconds and see if you can see anything faintly on the screen.

Nope, nothing, its like the screen isn't getting any power or anything. There is no difference in the screen when the power turns on and off. Absolutely none. Is there a way to get it back to factory settings or something? I just got off the phone with Sager and they want me to send it back. To say the least I'm very upset (been waiting 3 weeks to get this gorgeous thing) and after all of this the system fails to work....

    sorry to hear that candyman.

so it worked ok before you loaded the intel matrix storage manager.
this would defanately NOT have anything to do with the screen. im wondering if its got a lose wire for powering the screen and it just worked lose at that time by the slight vibration of the fan.

i dont know much about the insides of them so hopefully someone else can give better advice than me.

Yeah this is a very weird problem. I just got off the phone with Sager support and they are baffled as well. I'm under warranty obviously so they want me to send it back to them which I may have no other choice. I'm soooooo pissed. I have no idea what happened but I don't think I'll be installing the matrix drivers again anytime soon (may or may not be the reason but I'm not taking the chance again). Its going to be AT LEAST a week before I get the system back (more likely 2) so that definitely messes up my time line.

if i knew it could be a risk i would of said at first but im 100% sure this would not have anything to do with the screen even if the ofchance you loaded the wrong one.
all the matrix does is work in the background and brings your hard drive temps down a few degrees.

you could try the support at intel HERE

hopefully someone will come up with a better idea but as this is a worldwide forum a lot of members might be asleep now and i soon will be as its 11pm here. good luck and fingers crossed you wont have to send it back.

Thanks MrDJ but I called Sager and talked with them. They have sent me a RMA which won't cost me anything. I'm still mad but at least I won't have to spend anything else. Just means my patients is going to be tested as well as the possibility that Sager won't be getting my companies business (long story). Still wish there was something else I could do but I'm sending it back tomorrow morning.

Again I would have to agree that there is no way that the matrix storage manager could have killed your screen, it is an unrelated issue.

Make sure you take pictures of every possible aspect covering all sides. Yes, even though it's new. This is just so that you give them proofs in case it comes back with dents and scratches, but they deny that it's their fault.

It happens. Doesn't hurt to be prepared.

So on further inspection I'm starting to think its the HD. The system is extremely quiet and the normal lights that flash showing the HD is working aren't flashing. Not very scientific I know but I took off the back and everything looks fine, nothing loose.

    I'm sorry this happened :(
I'd try pulling the power completely (battery and cord). Then if you can try without battery in first. If you get any lights try to go into the bios. Also since you took off the back try also reseating the memory as sometimes it can come loose and then nothing will boot. I don't believe the intel software would cause that.

I feel your pain ! Within 2 weeks of recieving my 5793, the video card went out, a 9800GTS 512mb.
The reason I made the jump to Sager was, my previous notebook, an HP 9000 series notebook's video card took a crap, 7600go. Nvidia said was defective , but since my warranty was up, HP would not repair it, so I swore off big name notebooks and looked to Sager.

Can you imagine how pissed I was after a defective card in my HP, then buying a SAGER and within 2 weeks....................another bad card !

Anyways, within that time period Sager was offering the 5793 with a 9800GTS 1GB, instead of the 512mb version that came with my notebook originally!

I asked Sager to install the 1GB version, since the notebook was only 2 weeks old, to which they replied sure...................at a cost of $80 bucks !
Kinda thought they might do it to keep a customer happy !

Eventually got it back and all is well...........................for now, I'm a happy camper !

once again im sorry to hear this has happened to you.
it could be a number of things and as you said we can give advice on here but its not the same as having the computer in front of us.
as its brand new its worth the return as the last thing you want is a few weeks or months down the line and the same thing happening.
good luck and heres hoping for a speedy return.

Hey... That sounds bad too... I think it may be the HDD too, probably what happens is something is defective in it and it doesn't pass POST. Assuming it runs POST.

If it's the HDD it should start and tell you that -
    a) the boot disk sector is missing
    b) there is no hard drive, please insert one before starting
    c) the system disk is invalid, please insert a system disk and press a button to continue

one of those lol. I think it might be your screen or something. But I hope stuff works out for you.

Sent in the system this morning with the prepaid shipping label and RMA, suppose this can be a test on Sager's Technical Support. Was initially going to write a review on my new laptop today but I guess I can write a review of Sager's Technical Support and the system when I get it back. So far both Sager and XoticPC have been great (Xotic will work on my behalf with Sager if there are any problems). Will do two seperate threads, hopefully I will be able to help those that have the same problem I do.

I do hope you'll give us a good review. I found Xotic PC's customer support was excellent when purchasing my laptop, so hopefully they'll be just as excellent while repairing yours. I've heard bad remarks about Sager's repairs, so please do write a good review about them as that'll help a lot should anything ever happen to my machine

Don't sweat it with Sager. I had to use them about 2 years ago and they really took care of my Sager 9750. I had 2 mobos replaced (early adopter) and it was smooth including cross shipping the dvd writer. Now, English wise, they're not top notch but better than Indians and they are here in Los Angeles. Infact, I dropped my 9750 to their factory twice and it's amazing to see their workshop.
