Well, after the initial joy and happiness wears off from receiving a brand new computer and I started looking at what I have, and I realized there was a great deal of room for improvement.

AvaDirect sent me a D901c with a 3dmark06 score of 6700. I live in a remote area of the world and the internet is really poor, I've finally managed to download the shareware version of 3dmar06 and I installed the 174.70 drivers from laptopvideo2go and I got a score of 8400. But the shareware 3dmark06 only allows 1280x1024 and I assume the test Avadirect ran was in the 1900x1220 WUXGA native format. So the score improvement could be as a result of resolution difference.

This computer wasn't optimized at all and I am slowly working my way through the drivers to see that they are the best ones I can manage to get. 3dmark06 CPU test completely destroyed my lappy and I was seeing 0-1 FPS. I don't know if thats normal or not. I can see in the task manage performance tab that there are 4 cores up and running but sometimes I see that only one of the core has activity as high as 90%. What should I look for to determine if I'm set up for quad core performance?

    Thanks for your help.

Currently I'm downloading the 167.44 Drivers from sager, and I'll run a test with those.

None of this stuff is certified and I have to press f8 during start up to start the OS without the registration requirement whenever I change drivers, what this means is that the current and accurate information in the device manager isn't available. Bit of a pain and a real annoyance to have a video card that isn't being fully supported yet. I understand that there are some underclocking issues as well and that I might need to get some overclocking software just to get the video card to clock to its design settings.

Yea, vista scores are a bit lower, from what I've been reading but 9500ish is within reason. I just ran the test with the 167.44 driver, which is the vista 64 stock driver from sager, and I got a score of 7183, about 1200 points lower than the 174.70 driver.

I need to do a better install, I think. I need some sort of driver cleaning software, any recommendations?

I get 10070 on 3DMARK06 with .43 driver on VISTA 64. Out of the box with no tweaks.

With a Q6600 you should get around 9500.
