I read in Chaz's review how Vista felt sluggish when on battery on the 5793 due to a GPU underclocking issue (to save battery power). Has this been corrected in the Nvidia drivers?
-
Just set the Powermizer to make the Nvidia card on Max Performance on Battery and AC.
But do not expect to game well on battery... thats how it is.
As for CPU, you can use RMclock to set the CPU to "performance on demand" if you want your CPU to throttle to full speed. -
Ya I don't plan on gaming on battery but it would be nice to have smooth OS performance while on battery.
-
what are you doing that is not smooth?
is it the CPU or GPU slowing you down on what you are doing? -
No I don't even have my system yet. But as I mentioned I read chaz's review about basic things like maximizing/minimizing windows etc not being smooth while on battery and he remarked this is likely an nvidia driver issue. And this obviously concerned me because I would prefer things be perfectly smooth in terms of the OS on battery.
-
... well then.
I would not worry about it until you get it and start using it.
Be patient. -

Whats wrong with milkdrop? Lags?

Oh yeah, on max settings milkdrop2 will put pressure on the 8800 even with power connected. A few of the presets get down to 15-18 fps and some as low as 8-10, but for the most part milkdrop2 skims the 32fps max that I set. I don't run it on battery because its just a vanity that kills battery life and is not really necessary anyways.

If you want to game on the battery, think about Worms and Atomic Bomberman...
-
i love worms! (not the 3d one, thats no fun)
-
Indeed, still have it installed on my 'puter.
And AB is cool too.
Oh, and of course, Mortal Kombat and the awesome sounds
Those games are never sluggish on battery
Sluggish feel in Vista on battery fixed?
