So I have $3000, I'm getting the 9262. How should I equip it?

    I'm going to go through Xoticpc.com or Powernotebooks.com I haven't decided yet.

To give you an idea of what I want the laptop to be able to do, I want the fastest laptop I can get for $3000. And I want to be able to get as close to 30FPS as possible on Crysis at the highest settings.

Which Processor should I shoot for, so far i'm thinking the Q9450. Should I wait for 1GB 9800m GTX? or go with the dual 9800m GT, or wait for a possible SLI 1GB 9800m GTX?

Basically I just want to know what you all would get with this laptop if you had $3000 to spend.

    I'd get the SLI.

9800m GT, that is. Why pay the huge premium for the difference the GTX makes when you can have the best laptop SLI available? You do realize that a hypothetical 9800m GTX SLI would cost an extra $800 compared to the GT SLI.

Also, it's speculated that the 9800m GTX can't even use the 1 GB of RAM. I'm not sure if it has the same 256-bit bus as the 9800m GT. Can someone who knows better than me clear this up?

Thats basically exactly what I had built minus the Vista, I have a copy of Vista Ultimate 64bit already.

How do you guys think that will run Crysis?

~30 frames per second on high? Maybe? It's a very demanding game.

Yeah its very demanding. I'm just trying to use the best benchmark I know. My desktop would run it on high at 20-30 FPS. I think this laptop is gonna be at least equal or faster than my desktop and that's all I want.

It will get 30 FPS with high settings, but not @ 1920x1200 res. Maybe 1440x900 or lower.

My desktop with dual ATI HD 4870s gets 30-40 FPS with very high settings (DX10) @ 1440x900.

On the more demanding levels, during intense gunfights? Probably not.

I think you meant "ultra high"? I deleted the game before realizing that existed.

I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around that.

If it's true and there isn't some horrible, horrible catch [selling soul to Satan, it's made out of man, the turkey's a little dry, etc] More reason to for me look forward to getting it's die-shrunk twin brother.

My setup for the 9262 runs right at 3000 with vista, so without it would be at 2900.

    My setup is...
Q9450 Quad core, best bang for buck processor imo.
    1900 screen
    320 5400 speed HD
single 9800GTX card that I can upgrade to another 9800GTX card for SLi setup a bit further down the road.
    4gig ram
17" Targus XL backpack. 75$, so if you dont need that either I would take that off.

So... yeah. Either 2900 or 2800$. If you want to hit the 3k limit you could always get the 200 or 320 gig 7200rpm drive for faster booting.
