So how do you check GPU temperatures with a 7970M?

Afterburner doesn't show temps, GPU-Z doesn't run, it just hangs. How are people getting temperature readings for this thing?

Msi afterburner shows temps on the hardware monitor. I think you can select to show the monster in your settings profile. It will show you the min value and max value.

Any overclocking software should do it, Afterburner doesn't do it by default, so you have to turn it on (what Yarii said above)

In afterburner the only options are GPU usage, fan speed, fan tach, and framerate. No other options are presented for monitoring on my system.

Why do I get the feeling this card was launched before it had drivers to support it?

    I use HWiNFO64.

As enduro completely turns off the GPU, the trick is to run something that uses it then start HWiNFO64.

I run a stress test on MSI Kombustor then start HWiNFO64. Picks it up fine.
