They just keep on coming, this is getting frustrating. I'll try to go down the list.
1. The biggest one right now is when I take the laptop off a/c power and the battery is at 100%, it will stay on for maybe 10 minutes then randomly turn off. After restarting it, it usually doesn't happen again. Though a couple of times, it refused to start up on battery power, when I had plenty battery time left.
2. A couple of times, the computer randomly turns off even when it's plugged into the power outlet.
3. There's this weird clicking sound that come from the right side of the laptop. It's not loud, but definitely noticeable.
4. When using my computer last week, the whole screen went white as the picture faded and there were colorful vertical lines as well.
5. After 20 minutes of watching a dvd on either WMP or VLC, the picture would freeze and have to restart the computer to play another 20 minutes. The computer does not freeze, just the dvd picture.
6. I have a WinTV HVR-850 usb tuner that I use to watch TV. The tuner is Vista compatible, but for some reason, it keeps freezing. Maybe after 10 minutes, maybe 2 hours, but it freezes every time. I get the blue screen that says "A problem has been detected on your computer and windows has been shutdow to prevent damage to your computer."
I clean installed Vista last week and the only problem it seemed to solve was the dvd freezing one. I was using one of the older drivers before, and now the 179.28 right now but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I am on Vista x64. If anyone has any possible solutions, it would really help. If not, I guess I will have to ship it in to get it fixed, but as bad as it runs, I have school and can't do that until Feb 16, when we have our week off, so anything to help fix these issues would be a huge help. Thanks.
Update: Now can't play games, or run movie maker. Possible problems with GPU, or recognizing GPU. Hard-drive clicking seems louder and more frequent.

The clicking sound's probably from the hard drive under load o.o I get that too on my 9262 sometimes
-
How long have you had the system, and is it still under warranty?
-
the 2096 hasn't been out a year so it must be under warranty
-
-
could be your mobo is on the fritz? when i first got my 2092 i had many of your problems, but worse. have you tried putting your laptop back in the original state you received it? sager will probably make you do that and try a couple of other things before they'll send you a RMA, should you have to go that route. i ended having to send it back and got my laptop back with a new mobo in 7 days. haven't had any problems since.
-
did not have any minor issue even i use it 12h/7d play games .....sometimes work for contin. days plugged.....
i can say you got the wrong device....return it back and got replaced by new one.... -
And yes, I'm still under the 1 yr warranty.
It seems these problems are all related because initially, the laptop was very good. But once the problems started, they kept on coming and now I'm having issues with it seemingly on a minute-by-minute basis.
Does anyone know if I will have to pay for shipping the laptop to Sager because I'm in Canada? -
-
Well for questions 1 and 2 you make want to check your power plan options (click on battery icon on taskbar) and edit advanced plan settings. Could be that you settings are so that even on a/c power you comp is set to power off after inactivity of the harddrive...same for battery.
For number 3 it could be like someone else said that the hard drive is under load. My can make a noise sometimes when this happens.
Not sure about the other issues other than maybe try different video drivers and play around with VLC or WMP settings. -
Those issues sound pretty serious. I'd definitely let Sager take care of it with an RMA.
-
...but let's see if this works. -
-
-
-
it might turn the hdd off in that case, but it would turn back on when needed, so you shouldn't have a problem
-
-
As far as I know, it shouldn't. I say call sager and get it fixed
-
LMAO more problems.
I install NBA2k9 today. When I click launch game, the screen opens up- then goes to the blue screen of death and restarts my computer. I thought it was maybe a bad install, but I try opening MovieMaker and I get "Windows Movie maker cannot start because your video card does not support required level of harware acceleration." The video card shows up under device manager, and says it's working properly.
Furthermore, the power outtage problem is back and in full force.
, did they give me the most defected laptop they had or what? I'm going to contact Sager, but it says to provide invoice # on the RMA form. Was that in the box they sent the computer in? I'm going to try and find it, but will it still work if I can't find it? -
lol dude that doesn't sound good at all.
Why don't you want to have Sager look at it? -
I just don't know where to find the invoice number they ask on the RMA form, and if it is necessary or not. -
No just email them and reference the serial number found on the bottom of your notebook.
So many problems with my NP2096
