Hi folks,
First of all let me introduce myself to the forum at notebookreview.com.....
I'm Andy, and I live in the UK (on the east coast to be exact) and own a small computer shop, where I am well known because of the relatively high powered computers which I have owned in my time (both Desktop's and Laptop's)
And on the subject of powerful computers, I decided on the 15th of December to take the plunge and go for what is (or what should be) the most powerful laptop on this earth! - a Sager NP9262.
Now when I placed my order, I was led to believe that I would have my laptop around now, BUT as I'm pretty sure all you who are in the same boat as me know - that nVidia / Clevo delayed the release of the 8800M in SLi configuration until the end of Feb. Then I read on this site's homepage today that Dell has announced the release of their XPS with SLi 8800M's.
So, the big question is..........when is Sager going to make an announcement of their own, because the suspense is killing me!
According the notebookreview.com - Dell weren't the first to release a 8800 SLi notebook, but to me it sure looks like they were!.
Who else is waiting the their 8800M SLi rig? and don't you think it's about time we heard something?

Sager has posted that end of February is the target date for SLi. We wont see any additional updated information, unless some new details are provided regarding the release date, drivers or any of the open issues that are causing this delay become available

If you check dells site, and build a 1730 with SLI 8800's the shipping date is 2-19-08. I have my 9262, and I am just waiting for my second card from PCMW. I believe they may ship it out as early as next week. Maybe sooner, if we're lucky. So I am almost positive we will have SLI in our Sagers before Dell has got theirs out. Otherwise, I know a large forum, filled with people who will create quite a fuss.

Hi BMonk,
So, are you saying that - if I had my 9262 now - and waited for the 2nd card that I would have SLi sooner than waiting for the full spec?
From what your saying, Dell will have the 'Full monty' ready to ship on the 19th - so surely, if Sager were to retain the title of 'the first 8800 SLi laptop' they would have to have theirs ready to ship in full before then.
But, from Justin's post (XoticPC is where I have ordered mine from) it would appear that were going to be kept in the dark with an 'NDA' until the machine is ready to ship!
I think the point I'm making is this - I think it's about time we heard something 'concrete' regarding a launch i.e. that there is going to be no more delays!
Don't ya think? -
Well good luck getting that info out of them. PCMW has imho jumped the gun on a few things, as far as anouncing releases, but there is a rumor going around that they are testing the 2nd cards, and might have them ready to ship, sooner than expected. Who knows though. If dell is able to get out the 1st sli configs, I will be a bit upset. Not with sager, but with Nvidia. And how id it the 1730's don't need a mobo upgrade? Kinda says "**** you!" to all the people that strayed from propriotary brands such as dell, to ensure upgrade paths.
I love my XR5 - 9262, but if this "upgrade mobo path" continues for the next couple new releases, and others, such as dell, are able to accomodate these upgrades without changing major hardware, this will be the 1st and last Clevo I buy. -
I just priced a dell with the same spec's as my sig, with the exception of the XR5 has a quad core, Dell doesn't offer that, and Dell has the Physics card. Plus I don't think dell has the built in camera.... anyways, Dell priced out at $6100 w/tax&ship. My XR5 was $4473.
I am still glad I went with the Clevo.
So when is the Cat going to be out of the bag (8800M SLi) ?
