So I've just done a 3DMark 11 and I scored 5734 which made me sure the 7970M on my system was working (in addition to GPU fan going crazy and MSI afterburner registering what's happening).

It works with WoW as well.

Can't get it to work with SC2 or Warcraft III even though their exe files are bound to high performance in CCC. The fps on SC2 is 11-15 on ultra settings @ fullHD resolution, MSI afterburner registers nothing and the GPU fan stays off.

My driver version is 8.951.6.0 which came on the CD from Sager.

CCC version is 2012.0329.2312.39738 as the about page said.

    Any idea?

Also, what kind of GPU usage should I be seeing with Kombustor? Should it be 99% all the time or does it fluctuate based on settings?

i think he means that on some games his 7970m is not used at all, - only hd4000 is doing the work, whcih is different to utilization issues we get when 7970m is doing the rendering.

yes, maybe. just thought it was a bit of a pen!s comment, akin to cloudfire's near celebratory tone when 7970m users complain of their issues.

The fact I was not even talking to you in the first place Joe just shows how fustrated you are to call me a gentleman's genitalia, not just with your poor performing 7970M.

I hate Nvidia by the way but you have to give them some credit.

Don't worry about him. English isn't his native tongue. Come to think of it, it isn't mine either but I guess some of us are more capable than others :)

As far as the issue is concerned all I did was just re-install the same driver/software from the DVD that I installed before, not even a clean driver removal, just uninstall and install. Seems to work fine now. I can see a list of recently accessed apps in switchable graphics whereas in the past both spaces were blank and settings were forgotten with every restart of the program. Weird glitch. I'm suspecting it might have to do with the fact that when I first installed it Win 7 was a fresh installation without all the patches and service pack. I read somewhere that CCC was MS NET. framework dependent, so that might be the explanation.

As far as the utilization issue, now that the card is working with all games, I can see it more clearly. In WoW for example GPU utilization stays at around 40% while fps in-game is no more than 50 (Vsync disabled) and 25 fps at the minimum in cities. I don't mean a rare dip to 25 fps, but continuous fps at high-ish settings and not even highest.

I'm wondering whether our reliance on MSI afterburner to tell us the GPU utilization is the right way though. Some mentioned something about different parts of the GPU powering down giving MSI afterburner a wrong reading ..etc. Any other dependable app that measures GPU utilization in real time?
