Hi, I'm new to this forum. Have been doing research about Clevo notebooks for months, love this computer.
Just got some information about new Clevo notebooks in 2012.
The information was revealed in a conference held by the manufacturing site of Clevo computer in China mainland on Oct. 20th. The source is fairly offical, so I think it could give us some idea of what we'll get in 2012.

Motherboard chipset will be Intel HM75, HM76.

CPU will be with the name of 3920XM, 3820QM.

There will be several types of videocards, for Nvidia, we will have a N13E-GTX GTX660m 2G/4G to replace the current 580m, a N13E-GS GT640M 2G for currrent 560m, and a GTX650 between these two.
The 3Dmarks vantage scores for these cards are:
    660m 2G: P20000, 4G: P21000
    650m: P17000
    640m: P13000
while scores for current cards are:
    580m: P16200
    560m: P10000
For AMD, there is also a new card, however, the performance improvement is not really high, HD7900 has a score of P15500 while the currently using HD6990's score is P14200.

An engineer from Clevo revealed that, if everything goes well, current P150HM P170HM P180HM will be able to upgrade to these new cards, the interface should still be same.

I will update this thread if new information comes out.

Sweet. It'll be interesting to see if the 4gb vs 2gb 660m will have a greater influence on smoother 3D gameplay. I also hope that nvidia provides great availability of the highend gpu's. Pricing is a concern also, I'm used to selling retired hardware to ease the cost of the new stock. Wonder how hard it will be to offload a 485m after the 660m's are released . Either way it is nice to know the upgrade path exist. Thanks for the info.

If it's really tied to HM75/76 then there's no chance of it coming out before March, more likely April which fits with a few of the other specs.

Wow that's 6 months from now

Damn thank you for the post! I just got my 580M and you're saying a 660M is coming? Battlefield 3 @ 1920x1080 +60fps ULTRA settings here I come!

If I've understood correctly, the only difference in 2G vs 4G is if you want 3d Vision or not? So say if one is not going for 3d, then 2G should be enough?

Also, I'm assuming from your post that one can replace the card without actually replacing notebook? Will the current motherboard handle the new card and is replacing a card on a notebook hard to do by yourself (if you're new to it) or is it something left for the pro's?

    Sorry for all the questions.

I guess the 4GB version will be for 3D vision, since currently only few games need more than 2GB graphic memory. In addition, 4GB might be useful for some CUDA programming, since graphic memory is much faster than regular RAM. Any way, 2GB should be sufficient for normal game playing for couple of years.

Since one selling point of Clevo notebook is the ease of upgrading, I think it should be very easy to change video cards and CPUs. However, I never used one before, just assume it shouldn't be a lot harder than changing RAM, and may be as easy as building a customized desktop.

Good to hear. Kepler is looking like a pretty decent jump. I'm about to buy a new laptop, but maybe I'll wait a while.

Can't wait to upgrade my laptop next year.
Oh, and I am sure Nvidia has a 680M somewhere down the road. They are just releasing the 660M first.

Thanks for the info! Someone brought it up before but it's always nice to get confirmation. It's exciting that the P150HM will be able to take the next gen of GPUs.

Wow, I hope it's true about being able to upgrade to these cards. I plan on buying an NP8170 soon, and I really want it to last me at least 4 years, so I'm glad there should be solid upgrade potential.

This 20 Oct 2011 info would then explain why AMD has added the newer models to their 11.11beta driver .inf now that they are sure it is okay and their specs would work vs Nvidia.

P scores aren't GPU scores, so we aren't being told anything about the performance.

If the PM150 has support then the M860CU should have a good chance of being further upgradeable :) not that I am complaining with the 6970

All the info we have to date on this subject is that this gen will not have the backlit keyboards. Sorry. :(

This sounds almost too good to be true. I will probably have to go for a 7900M :D

I wonder if Optimus will make it into this model or any of the other suggestions in the suggestion list. Here's hoping.

It may or may not be best to wait. If you have no real need for one now, yes waiting may be best.

What is good to remember is that EVERY year big releases come out.

EVERY 6 months or less other big upgrades come out. It never ends... ;)

Exactly the only difference so far since late 2009 on new laptops is slightly more powerful processors and usb 3.0 and sata 3. Other than the processor things one can easily live without.
