I'm thinking of buying the Sager NP5797
and I have some questions regarding Xotic PC's config:

-when it says "None Standard - Drivers & Utility Software Only", does this mean no CDs but I get Windows Vista 64-bit pre-installed?

-What's better? P9600 or T9550? I will be playing games, CAD, and photoshop.

-Is the chassis of the Sager NP5797 always have HDMI port? or just some versions?

By default Windows is not included. You will get a driver and utilities CD and you can load your own OS.

The main difference between these two CPU's is the wattage. The "P" Series is 25W and the "T" Series is 35W. You can get a little better battery life with the lower wattage CPU. They are very close in performance.

All 5797's come equipped with HDMI. :)

thanks so much! so there is absolutely no performance differences between the P9600 and T9550?

additionally approximately how much extra battery life (in min or hr) will I get with the 25W?

There is very minimal performance difference between the two. The lower wattage will provide minutes extra and run a little cooler.

Terminus, I had a 25W P9500 before I upgraded to my 44W X9100. These wattages are maximum watts under full load. When on battery, the system scales to a lower performance power save mode. In this mode, as Justin said, the difference is only minutes. For me, it was about 15 minutes less with the X9100.

I say save yourself a few bucks and go with the T9550.

I see, thanks guys. I will probably go with the T9550 and save myself a few bucks. I'm estimating the difference between the 25W and 35W would probably be like 6-10 minutes, not worth an extra $35...but then again $35 isn't that much.

However...won't I be able to overclock more with the P9600 CPU because of its lower power usage?

Yes there is a performance difference. The T processors are better for multi threaded applications like video editing and sound creation. However, the P's have actually shown to beat the T's by a marginal amount in circumstances of DVD, image and model encoding and decoding (within the same clocks of course) so I guess its because there is more overhead.

With the P9500 without any undervolting, I get 2 hours battery life on Vista, I heard windows 7 grants about an hour more. For your purposes, get a P processor, its overall better than the T's in the same clocks. I do video editing and sound creation and so far I have not run into any problems with my setup that handicap me from creating killer stuff. :)

That is the thermal paste what Sager puts on the CPU/GPU when they assemble youre order. (XoticPC only takes youre order+gives tech support, Sager will put youre laptop together) It transfers heat better than most of the other thermal compounds avaiable, so the cpu/gpu runs a few C cooler with AS5. Sager also provides a little AS5 in a small tube with youre laptop, for later use.

If you order it, they will apply it to the cpu/gpu and give you whats left in the tube for later use, (CPU upgrade etc) so yes.
