So since I got my sager, one thing I like is that whenever I plug in my headset, the computer realizes oh hey he must wanna use his headset and lo and behold sound starts coming through my headset (so long as I restart w.e program I was using, or plug in the headset before I start using sed program)

ie. If i was watching a show on Hulu with no headsets and then I wanted to use headsets I could just close my browser, plug in headset, restart browser and start watching again. vice versa with laptop speakers.

However as of 36 hours ago, POST SP2 - whenever I plug in my headset my system no longer switches to using them, and in order to get sound through my headset I now I have to go to sound settings and change the default device.... and vice versa when I want it out of the laptop speakers.

Any idea's how to get it back to how it was? Because its rather annoying having to change the settings every time instead of just plugging in or unplugging the headset.

    Thanks.

Are there no further sound options? I have Windows 7 and I can plug the headphones in without even closing the application, once my headphones are plugged in, it automatically pushes the sound through them. :-/

    its the software.

you should just install the drivers only... and not have the realtek software control or detect anything.

thats what I did when that occured to me when using Vista.

    I never installed anything...

However, when I disabled the REALTEK thing from startup its back to normal. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    All good now :)
