Everything I read about Sager is excellent and seems like a great option for a desktop replacement. My only problem is I'm having a difficult time dumping $2000 on a laptop since I'd have to charge it. (even though I do need one.) Is it worth the extra $200-$800 in most Sager owners opinions?

charge it on credit card or charge the battery? i think most people use their laptops as desktop replacements and are plugged in anyways.

Desktop replacements stay plugged in most the time (unless you are moving it or have class) just like a desktop.*if you are talking power wise* If you need a laptop then a sager is the way too go.

Absolutely not, that's called living beyond your needs and doing it with a credit card is the worst thing you can do. Unless you can find a card with 0%-5% interest rate on it, don't put it on the card. Find something cheaper to buy, get a gateway p-6860fx. Its not worth 1800$ more to get a sager laptop. With the gateway model your monthly minimum will be around 20$.

He's talking about finance charges for the credit-card charge.

If you truly need a laptop, you need to ask yourself what you need it for. Sager's are built at a very high quality, and are very reliable and powerful. If you configure it according to your needs (don't just max out the componants if you don't need that much power), then it will be a great value for your money. Before recently buying my 5793, I had always bought from Dell. For value, performance, and reliability - I'll never go back.

Don't hurt yourself financially. Technology is always improving... wait, feel more comfortable- save some cash and wait for the next big upgrade. :)

Sager notebooks are high-end performance systems. If that is what you need, then you will get what you pay for.

Oh no, the card is 0% APR. Nothing I'd worry about for finance charge. It's just I don't know if I feel like paying the $2000 and having something crap out on me before I even have it paid off in a couple months ;)

Just one of those people that hates carrying card balances.

    Edit:

Was looking at the NP8660. In the end, the money doesn't bother me as long as I'm getting quality. I did spend about $1700 on my desktop a couple of years ago, but I want something portable, so I don't know why I have an issue with putting money into a laptop. Quality and reliability are much more important than the cash in the end.

well if you don't need it, then don't get it.. unless you really really want it (like me), then yeah! go for it. you can have it sit there on the same spot on your table for ages, BUT when you wanna bring it out, its a viable option :)

Because it is a lot of money, no matter how well-built the notebook is, and even though you want something portable, since you have the desktop it's not like you cannot do at all what you need to do, so the same part of you that hates carrying credit card balances is also feeling rather diffident about buying the notebook because that part never wants to spend money unless its absolutely necessary, not merely because it would be useful, a good idea, or make you feel good.

Welcome to the waffler's waiting room! :D Been here a while myself.

Exactly what im doing, i got these specs in my sig last year, and my next upgrade will be 3 huge 7200rpm HD's, a nice quad core, another 2gb stick of ram (to make 4gb) and SLi 9800m GT's

Saves alot of money considering back a year ago, the best you could get was dual 7950GTX, and 2.93 dual core extreme, lol

Of that $2000, you're going to get a very high quality machine that is very durable, and has an excellent warranty to go with it. Not to mention great service from the retailers like Xotic and PNB.

what's making your purchase 2-800 more? sager's prices are very competitive, especially when you get a higher end laptop/parts.
