I'm planning to buy the usb sound card Sound Blaster X-Fi HD for my np8170. I have a few questions regarding to the spdif output from the np8170. Should I purchase a minitoslink to toslink cable to connect my laptop's spdif output with Sound Blaster X-Fi HD's optical input then output the sound to my speaker or should I just connect the sound card to the usb slot then output the sound? Which will provide a better sound quality? Does realtek hd audio decodes the sound before sending it to spdif output? Sound Blaster X-Fi HD have THX trustudio pro technology on it, will it have conflict with the integrated THX trustudio pro on the np8170?

Can anyone who is familiar with sound devices lend me a hand?
    Thanks
