Hey quick question. I have a NP8628 and when I play with the settings (even volume control) from within the Sound blaster x-fi program absolutely nothing changes as far as sound. This happens both with laptop speakers and headphone jack output. What do I need to do to enable Sound Blaster's settings to take effect?

    Thanks.

Normally the X-Fi should work straight away.

Have you tried to unistall the Realtek audio drivers and the X-Fi software then reinstall everything?

Yes, reinstall both and then fiddle with the settings. There have been minor issues between the Sound Blaster software and the Realtek audio driver, but they nearly always seem to have been remedied by reloading the most current drivers.
