I use an EMU 02/02 it is a Creative Professional product.

It is not very expensive (in the $70-85 range), it works great paired with Sennheiser PC-350 headphones. Not to mention the amplification it provides, if I turn them up I can hear them 40 feet away.

It is however not a true sound card. It does not provide features like EAX for games. USB 2.0 based.
