Hey guys i just got my sager2090 and have been trying to set it up. When it booted (in vista home premium 64 bit edition) i wanted to install the 32 bit edition so i put the cd in and set it up in the process creating that windows.old file.

Now when i restart my computer everything looks different since as im guessing the drivers arent there anymore. The graphics dont look as good/arent as high resolution and stuff like the fingerprint scanner isnt auto trying to set up.

Now i went to the sager site to dload the drivers http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/tech_sfwrdls.html#1

but now im wondering which ones i should get. Should i just dload all the 32 bit vista ones and install them? i have to do this on my other computer and transfer using a flashdrive since im guessing my laptop wireless driver is missing.

or am i doing this completely wrong?

these are my specs in case it is needed:

Assuming that you have successfully installed 32 bit Vista, yeah, all you need is to install the 32 bit Vista drivers, it should be a fairly simple process unless there is something you haven't told us.

ok and just to make sure is there any way to check what version of vista 32 or 64 i have installed?

    edit-

ugh so many questions here are more :(

looking at the driver page it seems that 64 bit vista has more drivers to install than 32 bit

here are the extras in 64:

Side Walker Utility for Windows VISTA 64 BIT

Smart Battery Utility for Windows VISTA 64 BIT

Smart Meeting Utility for Windows VISTA 64 BIT

Smart Tracing Utility for Windows VISTA 64 BIT

WOW Video Audio Utility for Windows Windows VISTA 64 BIT

Was it wrong to go to 32 bit vista? It seems that certain drivers (albeit i dont know what these drivers do another question) are not available for 32 bit vista. Will future driver updates be aimed for 64 bit vista or can i do it on 32 bit vista as well?

Right click on "Computer" on the right hand side of your start menu, click properties. A window pops up, it should say "System Type:" followed by 32 bit or 64 bit Operating System

Interesting observation with the lack of those 5 additional drivers for 32 bit. I don't know how to interpret this.

Edit: As they appear to just be programs/utilities, the 32 bit XP versions should work on Vista as well.

Edit #2: Ok, well looks like the Smart Battery Utility is the only one of those that is actually provided for 32 bit windows XP. Hmmm. I'm stumped.

Is this why i have been hearing about peoples top buttons and 2 side buttons not working? Is it because they went to 32 bit and couldnt get the drivers for them. And even if i use the xp drivers only 1 is there that is not in 32 bit :( I hope someone finds a solution to this soon

Hi Guys :) Havock, did you install the OS's on separate partitions? Were you able to get the video and all other drivers installed on 32-Bit? or are you only missing 32-Bit Drivers for the following:

No i overwrote the 64 bit partition when i installed mine. Yes i have all the other drivers working properly from what i can tell. Video works internet works card works fingerprint works. Even the top 5 buttons work though i cant tell what wow audio and wow video are doing maybe they dont work. also i dont know if there is anyway i can test if the 2 side buttons work.

but other than the drivers listed above im good. thanks justin

I have the NP2090 with XP Pro SP2 32-bit and my buttons work fine. Well, quite honestly, I havent tried the two side buttons and the "Wow" buttons, but the internet, email and mute buttons work perfectly. The capslock and other lights also work just fine.
