I was using headphones last night when all of sudden, all sound stopped working. I do however get sound if I plug headphones into the USB port but no sound from the headphone jack. I also have no sound from the internal speakers. I have a Sager 5791 with Realtek audio drivers. I updated them hoping it would fix it, but it did not. Just wondering if I have hardware failue or if its something else.

If you need more information, let me know. Hoping I can get this fixed.

No, that wouldn't be the case here.

Have you tried plugging your headphones into the mic jack to see if sound comes out of that?

I was playing around with the headphone jack, and if I put my headphone connection about half way into the headphone jack, my speakers will work. Its weird. I think I might of messed up the headphone jack? Is that possible?

The 3 coloured jacks are multifunction, ie they can all be in/out/front/rear/center/sub/etc.

looks like the green jack is dead, so it thinks that something is plugged in (ie muting the integrated speakers) but not outputting sound either.

I'm guessing from the fact that it's a 5791 that it's not in warranty any more?

Unfortunately, the green jack is quite a common problem on this model of laptop, it is possible to resolder it/solder on a new one, but not easy if you have no experience in that sort of thing.

Yes, it is the green jack malfunctioning not allowing internal speakers to output. I put the headset in and push down on it and it will create sound. I do know how to solder somewhat. It is out of warranty also :(.
