I tried using sound recorder on my NP8760 for the first time yesterday. The .wma file it created could barely be heard. I went into Control panel> sound> Recording>microphone and saw there were three items. 2 Microphone (High definition Audio Devices) were listed and the Line In. Why 2 mikes? I have no external mike. Further, no adjustments to the mike properties made any difference. The recording could barely be heard. Could this be related to Skype on the machine?

    Any suggestions.

Could you provide the Sound Card that you have on your model?

If you're using the Realtek on-board card, this is an issue with the card and their software. This card assigns devices to it's input when it detects a connection or signal (voltage, static, etc ...). This may be why you have 2 mics.

Are you using the on-board mic?
Are you using an external webcam during Skype video-chat sessions?

If I understand correctly, you could like to record your voice or such as a more reasonable sound volume?

Which software are you using the make this recording?

I could give this a look on my unit if you're still interrested in this issue.

To rule out possible software problems, you should try using the freeware Audacity software. Set it as Windows XP compatibility if you try it and it does not work properly or crashes.

I use this one with no problems and my laptop is very similar to your one.

I'm using the onboard everything. I was trying to use the simple "windows recorder" I did skype one and it worked fine. That is why I could not understand why there was no volume with the Sound recorder. I have checked and my machine has the latest drivers for this unit.

I used Audacity a few yeas back. I'll give it another try.
