I just got my new Sager 8760 this week and I am having a lot of trouble typing on it. The space bar is not very responsive. I feel like I have to hit it really hard and right in the center to get it to register.
Am i being to nit picky? Has anyone else had this issue? Will it "loosen" up a little after I use it for a while?
Thanks!

I had the same issue with my 8690, I sent my laptop in for repairs yesterday. I don't think using it anymore will "loosen it up" because it felt like it was too loose already.
-
When you say too loose, what do you mean? Was it too sensitive? -
I was having the same issue with missing space bar strokes, and it really was just getting used to the new keyboard. The space bar appears to need a little more pressure to get consistent activation of the keystroke. This is my first keyboard using chicklet keys and from the typing results I am seeing, it takes some time to get used to it.

the left and bottom side of the spacebar did not respond while the top and right did. Also if I compared the spacebar to any other key on the keyboard it felt completely broken. -
It is alot better now. I was typing it and I hit the spacebar last night and heard the tiniest "crunch". As soon as that happened, it was perfect. I think that was a little burr leftover from the injection molded key.

Fixed it by getting a new keyboard from my reseller =) -

I had the same problem back in mid April. Sager sent me a new keyboard which was a real pain to replace and was somewhat better with the space bar. But now the keys are starting to wear smooth. The laptop is only about 3 months old. Are others seeing keyboard wear this fast?
-
I forgot who, but someone posted a DIY fix for the keyboard that seems to work well. Just do a forum search for it.

What are people seeing as far as wear goes on this keyboards? Are a lot of these wearing after 3 months or is this an isolate case?

Here is the link to the spacebar fix.
I just tried this, because i was experiencing the same problem with the spacebar, and it actually works.
The spacebar now responds very well to even light key strokes, no longer have to pound the spacebar. -

I hope the fix I've posted helped you, it did help many people around. It's just a factory defect from the manufacturer.

my spacebar is okay. Not the greatest (if i dont place my hands in just the right spot.. I may try the fix. but feel the wearing away of the keyboard is more of a problem. if there is noticeable wear in two months, i feel this keyboard will look like trash in six.

I started to experience a similar issue with the spacebar on my new G170 (NP8170) after typing for a while and yet again, this fix worked. I simply raised the spacebar and then smoothed over the raised areas around the white pressure pad that were causing the spacebar to make an annoying clicking noise, as well as being less responsive. Now the spacebar works perfectly!
