i'm looking to order a np2090 in the next few weeks, is it worth it at this point to get 4GB of ram?

i've looked for 64bit vista (which you need to use the 4gb, right) reviews, and not having much luck.

my main uses will be in MS office, internet browsing, video conferencing, streaming audio, and some gaming. No FPS, though, mostly RTS, and some RPG/MMOs. I've got consoles for the FPS. :)

    thanks!

You'll be fine with 2 gigs. You probably won't notice the difference with 4 gigs unless you're doing some really intense gaming, and even then who could say. For normal use and moderate gaming, you'll be good with 2.

Also, nice choice with the 2090. I can assure you, it's a great notebook :D

I had some compatibility problems with 64bit Vista, so my advice would be stay with 2GB and wait until you really NEED Vista64 to upgrade to 4GB.
Otherwise you will overpay for something you won't use.

most systems will show about 3.5gb or just over of the 4gb so if you get 4gb you still have almost all of it.. but its up to you at that point

I would save your money. I have 2 gigs and it's more than enough for what I do.
FPS gaming, photoshop editing, web surfing, etc.

2GB is good enough for Vista.
    You wouldn't need 4GB anyway.

Let me put it this way, I play Battlefield 2 (fps) which is pretty demanding of course not the most. Either way, I have 2 gigs of ram in my 2090 and it runs beautifully with all settings maxed and resolution (aa 0x). I even set the distance of view all the way up. I agree with the others, get 2 gigs for now, you can always upgrade (which is usually cheaper than getting it from the customizer) and there's few things that are easier to do than upgrading ram when you're talking about a laptop.

    cheers, mziol
