I thought so too. Thats why i edited my post asking DGDXGDG to post his source. He posted two youtube links later.
You should go to 1:36 with the system running Nvidia (Dual G-Force GTX 295) and 3:06 with the system running HD 5770. Just watching the video around that time shows a stark difference. I tried to get the scenes to match as much as possible. Its tough; here is the result.

I wonder how drivers can bypass what the game engine demands.I do not have enough knowledge of the subject to even speculate.

When does the NDA end to reveal some information about these cards?
-
1x 6970m core has a TDP of 100W. 2x would be 200W. That's too much current for the current MXM 3.0b standard for a single MXM 3.0b slot. Even if both cards were underclocked and undervolted like the desktop Radeon 6990, we'd still need a new MXM 4.0 slot to support something as crazy as 150W TDP., let alone 200W TDP.
Then if you look at it, Quad-Fire would consume 400W alone. The X7200 can peak at 380W with its current configuration at the moment. So... if you want that much juice, get a desktop. Just being realistic here. -
It wont be a dual GPU set up, more likely the 6970m with 1120 stream processors unlocked.
-
So you still think the 6990M will come out?
-
Yea pretty sure it will, whether its officially called the 6990m is not certain but there is a stronger 6970m unlocked version constructed and ES units of it have been used before by members of this forum.
-
will clevo added extra 30w to mxm =130w on the sly
btw to get 1120sp "hd6990m" now the easiest way is flash that dell bios and get hd6870 and solder-resolder its core on the hd6970m.........just kidding

XoticPC is now showing a 560M for the NP8130. http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8130...ustom-sager-laptop-p-2973.html?wconfigure=yes
-
This isn't suppose to be live yet.
-
Hmm. I'm also not seeing the $45 95% Gamut screen. Perhaps they posted the wrong update?
-
The $45 Special on the 95% Screens is only for the P150HM-S1 / 8150-S1. It's not available on the P150HM / 8150.
-
ah, that would make sense.

NDA is not up yet just for all to know. NO new nVidia card is announced yet...

erm, babyhemi.. How abt this??
NVIDIA refreshes notebook graphics with GeForce GTX 560M, attracts ASUS, MSI, Toshiba and Alienware -- Engadget -
Haha.. Nice..
But I think 17in is too big for me.. Lugging my 15.6 dumbbell around is already a chore. -
3GB of VRAM.
Oh jeez... -
OVERKILL~~ LoL..
-
Be surprised, if you see the 580M and 6990M before August.
-
I will be even more surprised if I see 7000M series soon.
-
I've yet to see anything official that makes me believe that that TDP is anything more than an internet meme started by notebookcheck.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia went right from GTX 485M to GTX 680M....especially if they suspect that they can't clock a GTX 580M high enough to beat a HD6990M. -
To stimulate this rumor thread
Dell Canada removed 6970M from M17X configurations ... -
Engadget let the cat of the bag, and XoticPc is already listing the 560m in the 8130.
And for $1500, a luxuriously equipped 8130 might satisfy my immediate need for a laptop upgrade until Kepler cards come out in 2012.
Can anyone confirm if 8130/560m has Optimus enabled? -
So is the 560m out yet?
I am confused lol. Also, will mashing together a 560m with i7 2720 and 8gb ddr3 ram @ 1333mhz allow me to run world of warcraft in 25m raid settings @ 1080p and 4x AA?
Also, is the 560m 1.5 or 3gb? on xotic it says 1.5gb -

Babyhemi any info on the new AMD offerings from computex or elsewhere?

Where on earth did they get those Duke Nukem performance statistics from?! Is the game out already?
-
DNF went gold a few weeks ago, and it's on schedule for 6/10 (EU,JP) and 6/14 (NA) release.
The game developers have a close relationship with the hardware developers because the drivers get updated on or prior to the release date. -
WHOAH 50 fps in sc2 on ultra. im sold lol
please is this card 3gb or 1.5? -
Since it's their product they're touting, I'm taking their figures for DNF with a big pinch of salt. I suppose it shouldn't be too far off the mark since the (long-delayed ex-vapourware) game isn't asking for too much on the requirements front.
-
Man.. I want to have my own bike.. No license yet though.
But I think it is far more dangerous to ride a bike in my country.
I think the ones that are going into Sager models is the 1.5GB variant. -
Yo the 560M is essentially an overclocked 460M.
There will be no magical performance increase.
Nvidia has to answer, for mindshare.
Nvidia fans want to buy Nvidia, regardless of the +/-, and they will go for the 580M if it's not ridiculous more expensive than the 6990M. Heck, the GTX 485M would've won, it it was just $100 or so cheaper. All Nvidia has to do, to compete, is price a GF114 core sensibly. Their fans will be there.
They'd probably try to clock it like 675/1350/800, max. -
This sucks big time. Place an order for a top-of-the-line Radeon 6970M 4 weeks ago and now I read this. And guess what?
My 6970M STILL ISN'T HERE YET!!!
If the 580M or 6990M is released soon and it beats my 6970M by over 15%, oh boy will I be fuming... -
That's the nature of the high-end market, cutting-edge technology doesn't last more than half a year if what's "the latest" is important.
I'm still waiting for my 6970m equipped machine myself, however I seriously doubt the performance from the new cards is going to be overwhelmingly superior to what's currently on offer. At any rate all games past and present are definitely playable at high settings for at least 1-2 years regardless of what the two companies churn out. -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Get what you want/need now, don't keep waiting for the next best thing, and be patient.
That's the best advice I can give you about these kinds of things.
Mr. Mysterious -
Nvidia didn't answer HD5870M when they left GTX 285M out until GTX 480M was launched.
The slide babyhemi posted supports my suspicion...."Next-Gen GTX" sounds more like it'd be 600M series card. Maybe Nvidia wants to be first to a die shrink for once.
-
Man.. why did you order from sgcubehub.. Should have ordered from mucro. Most of us that order from mucro generally receive within 3 weeks with not much hiccups..
-
Lol long story... Heard that sgcubehubs had better service, plus my dad doesn't like ordering online. Tried asking Mucro if I could go down to their office @ Golden Mile Tower to order but they said no...
Cubehub has a physical store, so my dad went with that.
I know about the nature of top-of-the-line stuff (if not I wouldn't even be in this forum), but the thing that makes me mad is the fact that my com still isn't here after NVIDIA launches new parts. If I had received it a week earlier, well I wouldn't be so disgruntled...
Into the 5th week of waiting now... -

NDA is over, now in the US the nVidia GeForce GTX 560M 1.5GB GDDR5 DX11 is available for sale...

what about 3gb variant?
would that be in the sager 8130? -
Sweet! Optimus technology on the 560M. Do you all think it'll make a big difference in battery life? If so, I'm ready to pull the trigger on an NP8130, because 3+ hours would be lovely.
EDIT: Now reading the actual press release, does anyone know if the Sager models will have optimus? -
So does AMD have any new video card in the tube?
-
Read the thread title? The projected 6990m card is supposed to be released to rival the latest Nvidia offerings. So far no word from the Computex people.
-
I made the thread, I am pretty sure I know about the thread title.
-
Then you'll have Phinagle's word that the new 6990m won't likely be seen until 2H 2011 since there has been no official word so far. There's plenty to back up that statement, the 6-series roadmap thread in the gaming forum was started by said user.
-
My word doesn't carry with it any promises. I only spread the rumors I come across and offer my own strongly worded opinions of those rumors. -
Definitely not all of them will do so, perhaps even none:
It's disappointing, but not surprising. The GTX460M was capable of Optimus, but the manufacturers refused to use it. It appears the same is mostly true of the GTX560M. -
The Clevo W170HM & Clevo W150HM models will support the Optimus techology using the GTX 540M.
Optimus Technology -
I want the 560M, though. NVIDIA is offering a taste of both performance and battery life with that one. Wonder if I can get a reseller to put in an optimus enabled version?
