I spilled milk all over the trackpad on the np8170...I immedietly turned off the laptop and clean/dryed as much as possible. Luckily, I think the trackpad and left/right mouse buttons are working...They dont seem to have any problems that I know of now. The problem is the finger scanner is now not working. Any ideas how I can open this thing up and clean it? I tried removing all the screws from the bottom and taking off the part that is near the trackpad but it wont come off... Please , Please Help Me. I want to get this thing working again...Thank you.

The laptop is now not able to shutdown, when shutting down it just hangs on the shutdown screen... Is their a way for me to clean and open up every single crevice of this laptop? I want to clean every area so i can get this working again. If not does Sager or Xoticpc offer repairs?

I'm sure Xotic will be able to repair it, but it may be expensive depending on the problem. I don't know of any 8170 disassembly videos online, but here's one for the P170EM (NP9170.) Puget Systems Traverse Pro M750i Component Replacement - YouTube It should be very similar to yours. It only shows how to remove the keyboard and components underneath the back panel, so it won't give you full access to the area under the track pad. Wish I could be of more help, and I hope it isn't serious. Good luck! -

Yes if you got it from us originally you can send it in for a cleaning. You can also take it apart and clean it yourself if you're comfortable doing that. If you go that route just be careful, it wont void any warranty, but any damage caused while doing so isnt covered. If the computer is hanging on shut down you probably did some damage to your SSD so make sure you pay special attention to that while trying to clean it.
Here is a disassembly guide if you'd like to clean it out yourself P17xHM_ESM.zip
If you'd like to get it set up for repair send me a PM and i'll let you know how to set that up. -

If the milk dried and damaged anything on the PCB or electrical components, then cleaning it won't help. You can certainly follow the guide Hutsady provided and hope for the best! Just take the necessary precautions if you do, as you will have the board exposed, and you don't want to inadvertently damage anything else.
Milk does a body good, but not a mobo. -
Sorry, but I can not resist. No use crying over spilled milk. Send Hutsady a pm and make sure it doesn't fry anything else. Again, sorry, but I have waited my life for this exact usage of the phrase. Seriously, good luck. Liquids and lappys do not make good bedfellows.
