Why on Earth would you want to spray lysol on your system?

the removing procedure would be different for my notebook, any idea if there tutorial for mine. Also at the moment I am just pulling keyouts and cleaning them.
Lysol why? Well if laptops have some sort of seal then the fluid shouldn't go through and once it sits for like 1 min i can suck it out with an vaccum.

The keyboard removal procedure would certainly be different, HOWEVER the point I was trying to make was that if you can remove the keyboard I believe that the best way to clean it would be to rinse it off. The Lysol will do little to remove the sugar that will create the subsequent stickiness. Also I have some doubts as to how effective a vacuum would be at removing Lysol that you have sprayed. Finally, I'm not sure that you could spray on enough of any liquid to effectively remove the offending fluid without at the same time soaking the underlying electronics.

Power down notebook and remove battery

Open up notebook (DO NOT USE LYSOL OR ANY OTHER SOLVENT)

Check for OJ residue and use denatured alcohol to clean up

Allow everything to dry before powering up

^^ Those are all well made points. Well I don't want to personally take the keyboard out quite yet. Do you think i could do it if notice the the key are stating to stick? Or would it be too late?.I kinda want open the keyboard to me last resort.

It is INFINITELY easier to fix the problem before the keys start to stick. If you spilled juice you should probably assume that they will.

Make sure the system is off. Flip the laptop over and let the orange juice naturally come out of it. It may take a day or so for the orange juice to evaporate. Once the system is dry, tae the system apart and clean each component with > 90% rubbing alcohol. Then dry and reassemble.

You do not want to use windex or lysol as they will stain and leave hydrocarbon residue respectively on the inside of your laptop.

Rubbing alcohol, patience and time is what you need

Make sure you take out all power sources.

You have to take out the keyboard and use methlyathed spirits/denatured alcohol on all hardware the OJ went on.

I suggest you order in a new keyboard.

here's and odd recommendation for electronics when getting wet (it worked on my previous cell phone Nokia 6300) turn it off, take out battery and skin, disarm it as much as possible and place everything on dry rice for some hours. for some reason rice absorbs water and humidity...it worked for me, good luck with your sager

So far thx nbr for the quick replies :)

Got the keyboard out. Now to clean it!

1.Put it in hot water? and have the wire sticking out?.
    2. What to mix in the water?
    3.HELP!

    1) Don't use hot water. I would suggest distilled water to be safe, but I used normal tap water without any ill results on my keyboard
    2) NOTHING
    3) Make sure that it is not plugged into the laptop when you are doing this and make sure that it is DRY before you plug it back in. I placed mine in the oven for 2 hours at 170F to speed up the process, but if you are uncomfortable doing this don't... just let it dry overnight. Drying time will depend on ambient temp/humidity, and it's better to be safe than sorry. If you live in a cool or humid environment you might consider ethyl, methyl, or isopropyl alcohol to rinse with.

Instead of dipping the keyboard into anything what i did was use a towel paper and dipped it in a bit of alochol (red label) and just wiped the keyboard. Since its sunny outside im letting it dry in a window. Its windy and sunny so it should be dry soon.

Dry out in rice as it absorbs the moisture as correctly put by serg89 for the best results, the oven would be a tad risky.

Would using Brand Name alcohol be okay? Like Red Label or something?. I don't have any rubbing alcohol. Also to dry it quicker couldn't i use a blow dryer on cold?.

Alright well, I didn't do much to it just used regular alcohol and the keys seem to be okay other then loose. Well since the laptop is some what fixed ill tell you how to OJ spilled :D. Well basically i was gaming and I had orange juice on my desk so i decided to put it back..But before i put it back i thought id shake it . Thinking the lid was shut i shook quiet hard and BOOM juice all over.In panic grabbed towel paper and dry it up and brought compressed air can to get rid of the juice. In the process of wipping I ripped out a KEY (J) the clip broke so i replaced it with a useless key (]). Also to see how to pop back the clip into a key I had to put another one out .. and I poped OFF (H) and thats when realized the part on the (J) was broken so I used the (H) key to pop another key and the (H) key has a crack cuz of that. In all if by tomorrow my keys are like this I think ill be able to drink orange juice again.

Btw here is the picture of the JUICE that ruined my day

Wait, you're using DRINKING alcohol? Don't, it has other additives in it. When we say "alcohol", we don't mean ANY alcohol (there are hundreds of various chemicals that fall under the general category of "alcohol"). You need to use denatured ethanol (rubbing alcohol)- this is important, because the whole point is that you need to use something that won't leave a residue behind. What happens is, using things like water or other cleaners will leave a residue that completes the electrical circuit in areas it's not supposed to, which causes an electrical short that will fry your components. Listen, go to your local drug store or grocery store, get 90% denatured alcohol and use that. It's worth the trip to the store to save your electronics. You haven't powered it on since the spill, have you?

Well, if it's working now I guess you have no problem. The danger is that if you had powered it on and any of the residue had created shorts on the motherboard, you computer would be fried. But it looks like your fine, just be more careful next time. If it's working now, it looks like you problem is solved.

lol, to add another echo, DON'T use any sort of drinking alcohol. Drinking alcohol will contain sugars which will result in stickiness when it dries anyways. Save yourself the hastle and "invest" in some proper rubbing alcohol from your local pharmacy or corner store. Take care of your baby! goodluck!

Too many posts to read them all so let me get RIGHT TO IT.

I had a friend that spilled some juice or something on his laptop/desktop and it settled on the motherboard. Now, he could have tried to clean it up and DESTROY his rig...

But he decided to leave it until he found a better solution. Then, a gang of Sugar Ants raided his rig and basically ate all the sugar residue off th emotherboard and cleaned it in the most sterile and safe way possible.

    VOILA!

Status Report: Laptop seems to be fine, i open it opened it up again just to see if there any sticky stuff around but it seems to be fine. But one part that is sticky is my wireless switch and my touch pad so I am afraid some juice might have gotten in there so I will probably end opening the whole case up at one point just to check up on everything. Thx again NBR awesome tech support :D

About the ants, I'm pretty sure they just stopped coming around after the food ran out. Thank God it wasn't those weird ants in Texas that like to eat wires.

Hmm, Just a little input. I found this pretty entertaining. I hope the OP realizes how lucky he/she is to still have a working computer. If this ever happens to anyone, do everything the OP didnt do.

The moment the juice hit the computer, I would have unplugged the power source, forced a shutdown by holding the power key, flipped the machine over and removed the battery. Sticky keys is the LEAST of your worries.

Then you needed to remove the keyboard and clean it using rubbing alcohol, and if there was any chance ANY juice made it past the keyboard, then you needed to remove everything around it, and make sure NOTHING else was wet. one wrong drop placed somewhere on the motherboard, and as soon as you gave the machine any electricity you could have fried everything. You got a lot of really good answers here, but went with, well almost none of them it seems. Vodka and a paper towel, while I can only assume the battery was still in it. Be thankful you still have working computer! Let the sticky keys be a reminder to take the advise you ask for more seriously.

    :)
