Hot chocolate was spilt on my notebook, bottom right of it. Some if it over the keyboard (number pad area).
The notebook was turned off and cleaned as much as possible after this happened. I plan to remove the keyboard in a few minutes to clean under it.
A few problems though, when I start it I get a high pitched beeping sound before the Windows XP loading screen shows up. Then it loads fine.
The LCD display time displays the time sometimes (it randomly does and doesn't).
The keyboard seems to do some weird things once and awhile (as if a certain random key was pressed in).
How bad is it?

You'll more than likely need to take out the keyboard and clean it with alcohol. If you don't feel comfortable doing this take it to a computer repair shop. Should not cost more than $30-35.
-
This is when you say to yourself, "Man, it's just too bad that my 5750 was completely ruined beyond repair by hot chocolate...I have no choice but to buy that new Sager 5790 however much I don't want to...ah well, gotta bear the little ups and down of life and all that.."
Spill a few more cups of hot chocolate on the 5750 in case you're finding it hard to persuade yourself with the above. -
Hahaha if I had the money I'd buy a 5790. I'm a poor university student.
The keyboard seems fine now that I cleaned it. Except the 0 key on my numberpad is not working. I'll try cleaning it again later.
The beeping at the start is what worries me. -
The beeping is an error code. It is telling you that you have a stuck key (unless I miss my guess). Until it is properly cleaned (Q-tips and alcohol) it will continue to do this.
-
That would make a lot of sense! Thank you for the input, I'll do my best to clean up the keyboard. -
If you need to, you can just get a new keyboard for replacement.... costs about $50.

I was also going to remind you that you can get a replacement keyboard if necessary. Try cleaning it first though, and let us know how it goes.

I'm not sure if the laptop comes with a manual (I'll be receiving my first laptop ever in a month or so) but when I build desktops the motherboard always comes with a list of error codes (the beeps you're hearing). I'd take a look in a manual and see if they talk about them.

Seems like everything is fixed (for now). The error was indeed a stuck key (the 0 on the number pad). Thanks everyone for the help!
I hope that's the only thing wrong with it. And no more drinking near my computer!
Edit: One last thing. The buttons on the front of the notebook (on the LCD screen). They're working but it seems like some hot chocoalte got in there. Is there an easy way to get in there and clean them? -

Please do NOT clean it with alcohol...use distilled water instead.
-
What happens when you use alcolhol lol
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Alcohol can damage the soft rubber parts and possibly other things...distilled water is the best.
-
So is there an easy way to clean out under the buttons near the LCD display (the front ones).
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Easy way...not really now that it has all dried.
You may find just buying a new keyboard would be a better solution. -
-
My guess is withouth dissabling the casing, I don't think there is an easy way... -
Doesn't seem like there is an easy way to clean there, unless the buttons can just pop out. -
Just use your tong to leak all the chocolate back were it should be
