    What would you recommend? I want one no less than 250GB in capacity. I haven't considered the price range yet, but Intel's I definitely can't afford.

    And how much faster is a moderate SSD compared to HDD?

    There is a dedicated SSD thread stickied in Hardware Components and Aftermarkets Upgrade forum. You're more likely to get a better answer there. But in general, any of the newer SSDs will give you better access time, so your programs will pop-up more instantly than using HDDs.

    Well, may as well answer the question. You'll have to spend $700 for a good one, there's the OCZ Vertex and the Corsair (samsung v2). Both are fast and have 250-256GB.

    yeah the vertex is usually a winner for the price. If you go cheaper you will fall victim to the stuttering of jmicron based ssd's and other sorts of nonsense. vertex performance is blazing fast.
