I assume the 6230 has better range, and that alone would justify the upgrade, but there's been a lot of complaints from Dell owners that their 6230 cards don't work properly. My main concern is having my wireless connection be hassle-free and reliable. So with that in mind, which of the two options should I pick, default or 6230? How have they worked out for you guys?

mine works great, no problems so far.

You will definitely want the Intel 6230... I use this card night and day at home and work - without issue. In addition to having better range, the 6230 is dual-band (allows connectivity at 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) compared to the single band (2.4 GHz) stock card... and can deliver up to 300 Mbps, compared to 150 Mbps on the stock card.

No compromises going from stock to 6230...it was a fast pick for me.
