Got my laptop recently. Having some issues. Sometimes it works flawlessly. At least when it does want to boot up but when it doesn't it will power up and shut down over and over.Sometimes it will bootup and the graphics on the screen will mess up. Now I don't think it's the graphics card 780m. Like I said when it does boot up all the way I can play games flawlessly. Here's a video showing the power up issue I'm having. Anyone know what's going on? The battery is fine. I can run off the battery all day and nothing will happen. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4zl-5VDyr-2WFhwV285R0FtZkU/edit?usp=sharing

if i was you i would get onto your suppliers tech support and get it repaired under warranty.
im guessing the more you turn it on and it goes off it could well be causing harm or damage to the hardware.
could be the psu power brick shorting out if it runs flawless on battery. -
Have you checked cpu and gpu temps? On battery those run at much lower power, so lower heat. Could be a bad or no paste job. But MrDJ is right, call where ever you bought it and get support. It may cause more damage the more you try to run it on AC.

It run flawless sometimes even when it's charging so I don't think it's that. I think something went it was shipped. Right now I'm on it, and it's working great. But let's say I leave it off for about a couple hours I come back to use it, I try to power it back on and that's where the problems start. It's a really weird issue. Could it be a bad driver? And the company said they will replace it once I get back home from Thanksgiving to ship it back to them. They already got me a shipping label ready and stuff.
-
And I only game on it when it's plugged in so I don't think it's a battery or a power brick issue. I only run a couple youtube videos and browse the web on battery

Drivers are only loaded when Windows starts to load. So if it won't power on and start loading Windows, then it is not a driver. If it does start loading Windows, then maybe.

So it could just be a problem that keeps Windows from booting? Unless it's hardware related, but everything works perfect when it does bootup.. I have windows 8.1. When the laptop does startup the computer brand boot logo comes on and sometimes the screen goes blank or there's lines formed horizontally like the graphics card crashed and messes up.I have to reboot it by pushing the power button for 5 seconds whenever it hoppens.

Did you change anything before the problem started, if not then it is most likely hardware. If you did change anything, try undoing it. You could try using the bootlog to see where it gets stuck. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode
You could try using just one stick of memory when it happens, to see if one is bad. You can also try a memory test, and test your drives. -
i never like the sound of lines on a screen as this is a sign of a dodgy or failing graphics card.
if possible could you plug an external monitor in and see if you have the same lines. if so thats defo the gpu.
if not it could be the screen or screen ribbon but we dont normally see this on new lappys.
i would say open the base and check if anything is lose as weve heard of hardware becomming lose through transport by courier but as it works sometimes flawlessly then that might not help.
it sounds like one of them situations where its trial and error. no idea what it is so try this and that until the culprit is found.
hope it gets sorted for you soon. -
Okay so it really was a ram issue. The laptop came with 16gb of ram when I only ordered it with 8... So I took out one stick at a time and tried them each separately and traded slots. Both of the sticks work perfectly fine when it in the bottom slot but if I try to put anything in the top the problems start. So I've just been sticking to the bottom slot with a single stick of ram. The brand is Patriot if that matters.. I thought the ram slots were underneath the keyboard and I didn't really want to mess with it. Come to find out I just had to remove the bottom tray. Everything is working fine now. It boots up perfectly fine every single time now

If both RAM sticks work perfectly fine in one slot and both cause problems in the second slot, then it's a motherboard issue, not a RAM issue. I would send the laptop back to the supplier if I were you.

They are currently sending me a replacement. Seems like there's some other people on the forums having the same issue. Maybe a bad batch of motherboards?
