I ordered my np9150 with the upgraded steel series keyboard because I simply hate the layout of the stock sager fn keys. I spoke with xotic at length concerning this and a response I got was.

"The Steel series keyboard uses its own drivers, so the function keys will map however you set them up in the software for Steel, but that is not out yet (later 2012, im told, from Steel)"

I am wondering if anyone has heard any more information on this? I was told incorrectly that the steelseries would dork as displayed when I ordered it and now it has the same layout as the sager stock just without the right identifying marks for the fn keys.

I seriously can't wait till this comes out and we need to do some work on remapping the sager stock fn keys.

Have you tried using autokey (I think that's what it is called)??

You can make your own keybinds in a game using that software (and macros), you can give it a shot.

I tried it and a few others to no success because the fn key functions don't always bind correctly.

I have been unable to map any of the FN keys myself. Totally stinks, wish I had gotten the stock keyboard.

better yet, just buy an external keyboard :D the stock keyboard seems to have many gimmicky things about it, ranging from random keys being unresponsive or annoying.

Xotic Pc said there would be an update for this keyboard sometime in 2012. I emailed steel series support and never got a response.... Great customer support.....

Anyways this is a serious issue for anyone with these keyboards, which response and feel are so much better the stock np9130 or np9150 keyboards.

I have memorized the locations of the brightness and sounds controls but have no idea where the rest are since I almost never use them...

I have used re mapping programs and all I have been able to remap are the volume controls and those barely ever work while in programs.

I asked them they said it's delayed because it requires collaboration with MSI. getting frustrated that I have to remember them all by heart.

They did originally have a post on their forums that said end of 2012. Obviously thats come and gone and no remapping software yet or any ETA provided. We can only hope something comes out soon.

Any news on the remap software?

Man, between the 7970 debacle, the inability of my laptop to upgrade BIOS from Sager supplied disks (gives me an error that Sager tech support has been useless in helping me with), and paying for an upgraded keyboard that feels great, but won't do the functions indicated...
... Well, this hasn't exactly been my best laptop experience.

If not their software solution there should be a 3rd party solution to this and not just auto hot keys.

This is all a conspiracy with msi. MSI don't probably want the steelseries to be used on other brands. Major suck!

Has there been any update on this? The mapping of the keys have been off since I bought this from xotic pc a few years ago and been dealing with it using auto hotkey, but with windows 10 coming out and a fresh install, I'd rather not just settle for work around.

Did you end up just making new keys with the correct key mapping to replace the current keys then? Or maybe a custom bios?
