    Greetings all-

I am waiting for my NP9150 to arrive and am getting some accessories and contemplating upgrades.

One of the upgrades I am looking into is the SteelSeries keyboard. I like chiclet keyboards, but want to try the stock one first. So where can I get a SteelSeries keyboard for the NP9150?? I will have no problem installing it myself, and since these laptops are made to be modular I am sure it is out there somewhere for us to purchase as an upgrade.

So who sells just the keyboard by itself and how much is it?? Has anyone bought one and installed it as an upgrade?

    Thanks!

That's for an MSI system. I don't really care about that as long as there are no software/hardware/firmware incompatibilities.

Has anyone installed this in a Sager NP9150?? Does the MSI keyboard software work? What about function keys?? Questions questions!!

The Steelseries keyboard offered in the NP9150 by resellers IS the MSI Steelseries.

Yes, MSI is the only one with notebooks with SteelSeries keyboards. I'd suggest reading that thread too.

As a side note, supposedly the stock Sager keyboard is made by the same manufacturer that makes the SteelSeries keyboard, so in theory, overall quality should be similar/same.

They are made by the same vendor, Sunrex. MSI and Sager owners should be able to remove their keyboards and check the tag on the back to confirm this.

Thanks for the clarification!! Since it is the same keyboard I can only assume the MSI software would work too.

No, the MSI software will not work on the Sager model. You would still have to use the Sager hotkey software for the backlighting. Again, I urge you to check in this forum, it should have all of the answers you seek. http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo-reviews-owners-lounges/670648-steelseries-chiclet-backlit-keyboard-p150em-p170em.html

Vuman has done a decent job of compiling the information and you will find that others have also hit a few snags in installing the MSI keyboard into their Sager laptops.

I was just reading thru this, and the keyboard cost over $100 if purchased separately. It's more worth it to get the upgrade directly from the reseller.

Does that mean SteelSeries might do something if they know Mythlogic is selling it with Clevo EM series? I hope not.

Don't think so. They are suing on what ground?? It's like selling coffee to a someone and then sue the person because he pours the coffee into a mug they don't like. That will pretty much make any DIY project illegal.
