We hope the M980NU comes out very soon but what do you think of its competion with SLI 280MGTX's coming out next week?....

if that is the case then people like xoticpc may carry it too ... just like the m17
-
Alienware (or should we call it Dell now) against Sager = no competition. Sager all the way.
-
That Alienware is pretty damn heavy. 5.5 kg without the power source. I would rather call it portable all-in-one gaming rig
.

Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
I just want to know is the M980NU going to be called a Sager NP9850? And if Powernotebooks is going to carry it?
-
I really liked the fact that, in spite of packing 2x 280m GTXs it also has -
erformance ratio!
-
-
Sager is a Performance to price provider.. they give you raw hardware with no trimmings or features..
sager is not fancy .. sager is not so crash hot on special features (some which matter alot)... sager is pretty average on battery life issues (mabye sub par)
Alienware is risky .. Alienware is flashy and powerfull .. Alienware has quite nice features def in the batterylife department.
Thats the general trend..
With ALienwares prices droping. and their construction going larger scale ( via dell).. i wouldnt rule them out.. this new thing looks quite spectacular on paper.
Sager will be same old same old good temps slightly noisey bad battery cheapest price thou im sure of it.. if thats your bag of tea. -

You can't beat a Core i7...therefore you can't beat a D900F!
-
yeah i wouldn't touch that alienware with a 10 mile pole.
if (clevo.getPrice() < alienware.getPrice() && clevo.getBuildQuality() > alienware.whatIsBuildQuality?())
{
boolean isNoBrainer = true;
handOverMoney(new Etailer Clevo);
}
that is all. -

lol you are too kind.
Nice drive in that netbook btw -

Any newer specs than this PDF out there?

Looks like AW might have a niche in the market.. sort of. The only problem I had with the M98U was that it was a huge gaming notebook, 18.4", I wanted a 17" with dual videocards. But I was gonna get the M98U anyway. But now alienware/dell is releasing a 17" system with dual 280M gtx's with possibly OCing ability. This system isn't that big, I compared the systems dimension with that of the Dell M1730 and its about close in size.
New M17x
Weight: Starting at 10.6 lbs10 (4.81 kg)
Width: 16.0" (406 mm)
Height: <2.00" (50.7 mm)
Depth: 11.9" (302.6 mm)
VS
Dell M1730
- Weight: 11.68 lbs
- Width: 15.98”
- Height: 2.11”
- Depth: 12.65”
The M17xis not that much bigger, its gonna be significantly smaller than the Clevo M98U which is good. Now to wait too see how well this system deals with heat, and hopefully wthis system is overclockable. But my only concern is how much smaller this system is VS the M98U, it might overheat as thats the common problems with AW systems. And it also comes with a 3rd hybrid videocard that will all be crammed in a 17" chassis. What do you guys think? -
can someone post the dimensions of the Clevo m98U?
-
Code:
function __construct() { $this->clevo = $this->db->findByName('Clevo'); $this->alienware = $this->db->findByName('Alienware'); if ($this->clevo->body == 'Polycarbonate' && $this->alienware->body == 'Aluminum' && $this->clevo->blackPiano == true && $this->alienware->blackPiano = false) $this->betterBuildQuality = 'Alienware'; $this->one = $this->db->user->findByQuote(); if ($this->one->fanLover == true && $this->betterBuildQuality == 'Alienware' && $this->alienware->basePriceTag == '1799' && $this->clevo->basePriceTag == '2400') $this->user->isNoBrainer = true; $this->user->save(); if ($this->user->isNoBrainer = true) $this->suicide(); }

"It is apparent that a 18.4 inch screen needs an appropriate big case. In the case of the Clevo M980NU this results in a weight of 5.350 kilogramme (without power adapter) and a size of 280x438x64 millimeter. So, once you have unpacked it you better keep it on the desk."

Late June to mid July. It was originally June, and that may still hold true but too often new model releases take a bit longer than expected.
-
11.02 x 17.25 x 2.51 and 11.77 pounds. I hope this helps you. God Bless
WOW I just took out a brown paper bag and measure the flat side of it and it measures 11.75 x 17 so if you want to get an estimate of how big one of these laptops are closed get a brown paper bag. -
We still aren't sure whether the m17x has MXM 3.0 280Ms or not.
-
-
databases searches like that are extremely inefficient, try a quicksort or something instead.
-
Can't wait for the full Gophn review
That is one convention I always wanted to attend.
Not to take anything from the M980NU, but the thing is HUGE
And if AW can help themselves from reaming consumers with there pricing they SAGER will have very stiff competition.
Personally I think anything over 17" for a laptop is a little overkill.You pass a point were it just gets silly to call it mobile.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

If the nicely configured Alienware M17x cost $4,206.39 then our M980NU hopefully should be much less? What do you think?

i just saved you $700. -
pretty much confirmed that the new M17x uses MXM 3.0b cards...
-
yuppppp
and the warranty and the ram are useless...for now at least...blu ray is mehh -
GTA 4 swallowed up 2.5GB of RAM today. Yuck
I closed it, dropped from 3.25 to about 770 lol.
Yeah more than 4GB is a waste for most people, but it's nice to know I'm actually using it. -
Just did the pricing at .de and .com site for the AW.
With the same specs the price in .de 3.534,01€ and for .com 2148,54€ (~3000$).
(Q9000, SLI 280m, 1TB 7200, 1920x1200, BluRay, 4GB RAM 1333)
I guess in Germany you pay more for the brand than anywhere else. ^^;
M980NU is not released yet so the pricing can not be done, for now.
Edit:
So far AW is cheaper (price etc) than Clevo. What I have seen from German resellers, compared to the .com price.
Stiff competition for the M980NU? Maybe...
