I am still using 167.43 because I dont know what else I am supposed to be using.

I have heard that newer drivers cut performace by 50%.
    Is that true?

What Drivers should I be using with my Sager 5792 w/ 64bit Vista and a 8800MGTX.

Especially w/ AoC coming out I want to make sure I am using the best.

Again I am still using 167.43 because I heard that newer drivers from laptopvideo2go.com cut performance by half for some reason.

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17702 (IF you see reports that it cuts perf. by half)

Well anyone? Can you post instructions on how to to be able to use newer drivers from laptopvideo2go.com w/o the drivers underclocking.

Everything I am using is stock from the 5792 I got in January.

I've used both 167.43 and 169.09 and there pretty much both identical. 169.09 performs slightly better for me in crysis and 167.43 performs better in oblivion. You have a pretty good card there so you wont notice any difference! (unless you use fraps :p) I'd say only update if your getting errors in games or bad performance, which you shouldn't :)

thats good advice, if it aint broke dont fix it.
if they do a driver that allows you to run crysis well at higher res, then its worth it
otherwise enjoy the other games ;)

This is what i did. BEFORE i even updated my graphics drivers i did 3 things.
First download your old graphics driver and have it on standby incase you mess up on rolling back your driver. 2nd download 3dmark06 there is a free version to test your 3d score. 3rd download the appropriate driver you want to use from www.laptopvideo2go.com.

First thing you want to do is run 3dmark06 and write down the score you get. (before you update the graphics driver DO THIS FIRST!)

Second go ahead and do the proper uninstall of our old driver and install the new one from www.laptopvideo2go. (there is a TUT they provide how to use thier drivers i suggest you read it!)

Third after installing the new driver run 3dmark06 again if you dont see 3d score marked in half CONGRATULATIONS no down clock! (i would run 3dmark06 twice just to make sure) If you do you may try another driver to see an improvement of no down clock issues.

Last but not least if you do have down clocking issues with new drivers i would suggest calling the company sold you your laptop to help you out with the issues. OR roll back to your old driver if you dont want to update with laptopvideo2go

I am using 175.12_vista64 driver from laptopvideo2go and got a huge performance boost with AOC open beta from my old video driver.
