Just got my NP9170 from XoticPC about a week ago. Only upgrades are 7970M and the 128 GB Crucial SSD w/ Windows 8.

Two times now when trying to come back from hibernation it has been acting weird. When I hit the power button the screen will just go back and forth from completely off to the monitor being on, but completely black. Switching back and forth about every 3 seconds on and off. When I hit the power button to shut it down and restart it, it will boot normally, but the screen has some discolored bands/lines throught it. If I then tell Windows to do a normal Restart it will come back and everything is normal.

Any clues as to what this could be?

General rule of thumb: let fellow NBR users know your system specs. Even things that may seem irrelevant, could in fact be relevant. :)

Do you get any Windows messages? "The system was shut down improperly."? Blue screens? Does your event log show anything? And by hibernation, are you sure you're referring to Hibernation - and not Sleep (common misconception)?
