Hello,everyone
I have very strange problem from a couple of days. While playing Call of Juarez:Gunslinger the screen moved and become separated vertically.
In fact the whole screen moved to the right and the left edge side stayed in the middle of the screen. After restarting the machine everything was ok.
Later a few other things occurred like black screen and flickering but the game was still running and as you can see later some lines appeared.
And whole the day was like this. On the next day i am starting the machine and everything was ok until i have started the game again.
Since then, lines like those are all over the screen and i think that the GPU is damaged. It was very hot and humid here those days and
despite i am using cooling pad with 3 fans i think it got overheated.
And after uninstalling radeon drivers it is not possible to install them again. Later i've manage to install them but the same thing happened.
Windows is starting, some flickering, black screen with some blue pixels and after that the black screen becomes lighter black and the GPU
fan is starting to increase speed. And it changes increasing and decreasing. The air behind the GPU fan is hot like it is running.
What do you think? Is it possible the screen or the cable to cause this?
I am thinking about connecting it to external monitor through HDMI,VGA or DVI and check the picture.
Thank you

This exact thing has happened to me three times, same card and laptop model. Your card is probably dead.
For me, the output has been the same regardless of whether I'm using the internal monitor or an external one. Booting into safe mode does give a more usable image for recovering files, etc. -
yupyup, refrain from putting any more load onto ur gpu whatsoever, if u need it to last a bit longer. its showing progressive signs of dying on you, so either get a replacement gpu or try the baking method

Thanx folks. The strangest thing is that i am curenlty in china and i can' find a new 6990m. you know that they don't have much ovens here,so it will be not good idea to fried it in the pan Haha
. I mean i want to try the baking method but don't have the oven
. Began to think about some used from ebay. What do you think about 7970M? But i am little concerned about vBios flashing and the other supporting operations.

7970m is definitely a good nice if ure not too bummed out about the non functioning hdmi. the vbios flashing necessary for our p150hm machines aint all that bad, just check the instructions in the thread linked to in my signature, its all there in the OP

The baking method can be hit or miss, and if the problem is with the video memory, then reflowing the solder joints probably won't solve anything.
A replacement card is probably ideal, if you can find one. Good luck!

Thank you guys. I will keep looking the market section for some 6990M. If someone wants to sell can contact me

as you have no oven available just dont do what one member done about 5 years ago and tried to bake the card in a microwave.
and then come on here screaming that our advice had blown up his mums kitchen. -
Did that really happen? Wow!
He's lucky to be alive! -
LOL, this screen moved and become separated vertically is the exact same thing that hapened with mine, except that right after this mine simply died and I could only boot in safe mode, then I disabled the GPU to boot in normal mode, made the backup of my stuff and send it to my reseller, and yes, it was dead indeed, and the sad thing is that my reseller cant upgrade for a 7970m cuz its not suported by Clevo. This damm 6990m and its short about 1 year lifetime. Waiting till my notebook comes back and lets see if another 6990m dies in my hands before my remaining 1 year and a few monts warranty ends (glad my resseler have a 3 years warranty with no additional costs).

why so many 6990ms got problem?

I think everybody needs to pay more attention to the cooling system. Clean the fans and heatsinks and of course change the thermo compound after some time of using. It was my mistake for sure. Later i've checked these things and there was some piece of dust in the GPU heatsink. And with the combination of 36 degrees celsius and 90 and maybe even more % humidity it obviously was crucial i think. I am wondering about is there specific model of 6990M or 7970M for Clevo P150HM. Can i use those ones taken from Alienware or some other machines? And i wrote to Nexoc asking if it's possible to fix this and waiting for an answer.
And hahah. everybody knows that in microwaves is not allowed metal objects
