I was very happy when my second 8800m GTX arrived via UPS today from Xotic-PC. I was then very unhappy (to put it mildly) when my 9262's screen started to, well the best way to descirbe it is jittering back and forth when any 3-D game/application displayed. The mobo bios was updated as well as drivers from the discs that came with the card. Now everything still worked well, 3DMark06 ran all the through and scored 12707, but it was very disturbing to watching it with the image jittering left and right.
Well the first thing I did was shutdown and verify everything was installed properly and securely. Started her back up and the jittering was still there.
I then started looking for different drivers and found the new 174.82s that were just released very recently. Uninstalled old ones and then installed the 174.82s.....still jittering....
I then removed both cards and swapped their positions.....Lo and behold, this did the trick. 3DMark, Portal and Crysis ran beautifully. The funny thing is, 3DMark06 scored higher with the jittering (only 30 points higher).
Anyways, just thought I would share incase anyone else experiences this problem. I was starting to think I would have to send my second card back for another......and after having waited so long to get it....arg. But all is well now.

weird.
glad you got it working.
I wonder what I'm gonna get in SLI when I get my second card
maybe 17k? -
-
i dont care what you do to it.... youll NEVER get 17,000..
maybe close but not quite -
He might get 17k with extreme OCing, a very good notebook cooler and some modded heatsinks.
-
Your get 15.5k if your lucky tbh...
Though its always nice to be surprised -
ashveratu,
Great tip for those of us that will be upgrading.
I'm still on the fence about getting a second card. Would you mind posting your Crysis benchmark scores (1920x1200, all high) and your 3Dmark06 sm2/3 scores to help me decide?
Thanks -

My temps have gone up 8 degrees, I spent 7 hours last night mapping the thermal zones.
no crashes.
stays under 60 degrees in all applications including prime test. -
I just wanted to give you an idea of what your score will be...
That was a desktop with a Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz compared to yours at 3Ghz and (2) 8800GT in SLI scoring little over 16k. -
If SLI gives your rig the same boost in SM2/3 scores that the dual CPU rigs get (50%), and your CPU score holds, your 3DMark06 scores would look like this:
SM 2.0= 7736
SM 3.0= 7337
CPU= 4617
These scores result in a total 3DMark06 score of 17209!
Who knows what bottlenecks might pop up at these faster speeds though. Maybe you'll need a second battery and a 400 watt power brick. -
Na, a 260W should still be enough.
But I don`t think anything will achieve 17k, let alone playable. -
I don't need a second power brick.
the TDP of the g0 is low way low.
Compared to a guy I know that has a qx6850 in his rig with SLI. and the TDP is 130w...
Mine is low and since I didn't change the Voltage. only .05v on the card.. I won't have any problems.
My heat is like 8 degrees hotter than before.
and I never hit even 60 degrees when Gaming on Crysis for over 2 hours. -

SLI will definitely increase the heat of the GPU´s compared to a single one. Yeah Dex hit that 16k+ wall, I think you can do it. Don´t know why that SLI 8800GT setup only reaches 15k with a Quad also overclocked.
I mean my desktop E6600 @ 2.93GHz and my 8800GTX 620/1535/1000 hits 13k+ in 3D Mark 06 single cardf so I do wonder what I would hit with two 8800GTX overclocked to Ultra speeds like I have in 3D Mark 06, that is if I would get a second card of courseThink I will get one more XFX 8800GTX they are so cheap now anyway and no use to sell my 8800GTX to buy any 8800GTS 512, to me that is a downgrade, even if they are higher clocked
Strange issue when installing second 8800m GTX..
