Hello,
I just got my laptop from XoticPC a few weeks ago. I paid for the custom color calibration, which I thought it was already active when I started using the laptop because the picture was already that great. Not having any experience with a custom calibration before, I had no idea the profile wasn't active. I was able to see the profile installed on my PC, but it stopped recognizing it as an active profile after I had updated my display drivers. It took me awhile to figure out how to enable the profile. Once I finally enabled it, I finally realized the difference between having a truly calibrated monitor and a non calibrated one. That being said, I began to notice that when I am using the custom profile my monitor starts to adjust either the gamma or the contrast whenever I open a window that has white or a shade of white in it. For example (not limited to), if I right click on my background and the options pop up, everything is fine until I scroll over an option that has the slidebox for more options (view for example). Once I scroll over view and the box of options appears, my screen seems to brighten, even tho its already at 100%. If I slide down to another option, it will get even brighter, and so on. Once I close out of the menu completely and go back to just my desktop, the display goes back to the original state. But not instantly, it seems to do it in steps of 3, like someone is slowly adjusting the brightness level down 3 notches, one notch at a time. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Any help would be great appreciated, thank you!
*Edit* I do not have this issue using the default profile, and it only seems to do this while I'm on the battery.

This is a new issue. Try turning off the adaptive brightness in your advanced power settings. They may be set differently for "on battery" and "plugged in" hence you're only seeing it happen while on battery.

Sounds like either the Automatic Brightness feature in the Windows Power options, or "Dynamic Contrast" per the video options. If it's your backlight and not the contrast or gamma, then it should be the former feature. If the latter, then it would be relative to other software adjusting the contrast; similar to local dimming, except software controlled, rather than actually dimming the LEDs.

When I go into my power settings it shows that the adaptive brightness is off. Now that I have noticed this issue, I'm finding more as time goes on. I guess when you've caught an issue you and you begin to watch for more changes is when it gets easier to pick up on things. I noticed last night when I was playing BF4 for a few hours that my custom set that I had selected for my calibration (the xoticpc profile) had overtime gradually adjusted to something other than what it was at. Could be gamma, I don't believe its my brightness because I'm running with my brightness maxed with adaptive off. But I had taken a picture of my desktop before playing, and I took another after. It could be an unreliable test, but I am sitting in the same level of room lighting (in the dark) for both pictures. Even without the pictures I was able to notice a noticeable change. The gradual change is no where near what it is when I'm running on the battery tho. I am going to try and look into the dynamic contrast issue.
Strange occurrences with custom monitor calibration, please help!
