When I buy my Sager laptop, it will most likely either be from Xotic PC, PC Torque or PowerNotebooks. I was just reading some reviews on Resellerratings.com and I was surprised to read that according to one buyer that the reseller did not actually put the laptop together, but rather ordered it from Sager and that Sager then shipped it to the customer. For some reason I thought that the reseller had all the parts and then custom built the laptop at their facility and then shipped it from there.

Not that this is critical, but could anyone shed some light on exactly how this works?

BTW, I have always said that there is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people who ask questions. Well this time I am guilty as charged!

This question comes up ever so often.

    The simplest answer is:
Sager is so large that they cannot handle everything themselves.. especially their sales and customer service end.... which is why they decided to have official Sager resellers (like Powernotebooks and XoticPC) that can handle the sales and customer service, while Sager will mainly just handle the hardware.

So when you purchase through a reseller, you will deal directly with them for everything and if they (the reseller) decides that its a hardware issue, they will contact Sager for you to cross-ship you a replacement part or have you send in your notebook if its needed.

    Thanks for the info Gophn!

BTW, where's the link to your PayPal contribution? I was intending to send you something once I actually got my new laptop and I finished asking you stupid questions.

You will get a box with the Sager logo shipped from Sager through the reseller to you (or sometimes directly to you, if you don't live in California, I believe), also, by the way. So yes, Sager puts it together and handles repairs as well, but resellers handle the customer service.
