Support group for those in wait

Officially a week into ordering my Pollux 1612 from Mythlogic. Resorting to watching unboxing videos to kill the time in between refreshing order status page (still showing shell allocated )

I thought I outgrew my impatience on this kind of stuff, but yeah I havent. That and I could really use that GPU right now for some work related password cracking.

What are the rest of you folks doing to pass the time? I live out of hotels 4 days a week, and my only other laptop isnt exactly capable of running anything.

 

I have done the hotel life before, feel for you. Without a good Lappy, your stuck with either bad TV or a crappy bar, and bad TV. I hope you get it soon. But once you do, you will be very happy. Too bad it is not football season. Congrats on your purchase.

I feel the same way: My laptop order got dragged for two months until I was forced to cancel it. Just a few days ago I finally got my refund and made an order in a different company, but the money hasn't arrived there yet. Since they won't start building it until they'll get my money, I'm going insane from impatience. I haven't played a decent game for the last 4 months and I'm itchy all over

So yeah, the waiting is really the worst.

 

Finished with the hotel life myself, although only 3 days out of the week. But, for the love of anything, how can you watch unboxing videos?? I'm sure thats a mild form of torture

 

I don't understand how your still alive... I would have died from the frustration and I only had to wait 2 weeks.

 

Lol. You poor, misguided souls. What I wouldn't GIVE to stay in hotels 4 days a week... real, full size beds, and an actual tv, no matter how crappy! Plus, their wifi is SO MUCH BETTER than truckstop wifi. That's right, I'm a trucker, and forget 4 days a week, I live in a truck 6 weeks out of every 7. I ordered my laptop in early july, about a week later changed from a 7970m to a 680m, and got all sorts of customizations that added to build time. It actually arrived at my house (in New Jersey) yesterday. Too bad I'm in Illinois!!! Luckily, I timed it well, and should be home tomorrow or the next day.

My current old HP has no battery at all, and the power supply input connector on the laptop is loose, meaning every time the laptop gets jostled or moved, the whole thing just shuts off. Sometimes it takes as much as 15 minutes to get the plug to sit such that it will start back up. I am very, very anxious to get my new gaming rig, as my computer is my sole form of entertainment pretty much seven days a week.

Man, it would be nice to be able to go home 3 days out of every 7... Or heck, to have a weekend at all!

Okay, end of rant. LOL

Think I'll go watch an unboxing video.

 

I love the smell of new electronics when they're fresh out of the box.

 

Just look forward to all the good times you'll all have when the laptops do arrive. The wait seems insignificant once they do arrive!

ordered on the 31st july and it landed in the uk 4.30pm today from mySN
destination airport was heathrow which is 8 miles away from me but thanks to dhl it arrived at gatwick which is 80 miles away (thanks dhl)
wonder if it will be here tomorrow as it has to go through all the usual custom checks.

Since I've read quite a few delivery horror stories already, I say take a day or two off, otherwise DHL might reach your house just when you won't be home, and you'll spend the entire next week playing 'catch the laptop'. Especially true if they're located so far away from you.

I'm also waiting for my XMG P702, hopefully coming next week!

 

I wonder what happens if a trucker knows his truck contains the laptop he ordered but he still has to deliver things after he delivers his laptop.

 

I believe that was outlawed in the Geneva convention

dhl messed up 4 years ago where they scanned it twice so it cancelled the dispatch from their depot.
on their website theres an option to set up a sms or email notification when it goes on the van for delivery so ive set that up as the worst part is sitting indoors on a day off and it arrives at 5.59pm

I was told in an email that my laptop shipped yesterday. And then this morning I got another email stating that the stock of GTX680m cards is out. So now I have to wait longer. sad day. Thought I was gonna get my laptop this afternoon but now I will be waiting longer!

May I ask where did you buy from?

 

I bought it directly from Sager as their warehouse is literally 3 miles from my house. Almost drove down there to see what was up haha. Got my hopes up for nothing. They said probably Tuesday though, so that's not all that terrible of a wait. Just thinking it was coming today intensified the want ahaha

Lol. Funny stuff. Anyway, I deliver mostly foodstuffs... frozen beef, hershey products, occasionally some medical supplies (though not allowed to say what or for who). Once I delivered furniture. No electronics yet. Too bad, though, since occasionally the companies give me a free sample. I don't see myself buying an ipad anytime soon, but I'll take one for free!

 

hopefully the second email was a mistake. if first email said it shipped what did they do,send it without a graphics card lol.

 

I'm guessing they shipped it with a gtx670 or 675m. But I rather wait and get it with the 680m haha

Well now I got another email saying that my laptop will be here tomorrow. Let's see if that happens! I don't understand the whole thing that's been going on. I just hope my laptop will show up with my 680m. I'll let ya guys know if I get it and if it is correct spec!

Maybe yours did ship with the 680m and the email was sent to everybody with a 680 on order.

Mine is on order, but there is no rush on my build. Have to finish out my time in Afghanistan. Will come home to my new rig

 

Well it says that it is out for delivery on the UPS site. So hopefully it will come soon and I wont have wait all day to see if I get it today!

Day 11 of the big wait here. Ive moved on from unboxing videos on to gaming mice reviews. Ive been using the same mouse for like 12 years, probably time for something new. Anyone have any suggestions? Ive looked at some of the random stuff but figured might as well poll here to distract everyone from "the wait". Estimated 10 business days will be wednesday. I was hoping for earlier as that means itll be delayed getting to me based on my travel situation but ill figure something out. Either way it is still showing not in build, so assuming it takes a day to build, I think its a 3 day burn in, so either way not much hope of that coming out early I wouldnt think. They did say that they are busier than normal due to their specials they are running so could be 15 days. That puts a sad in my heart.

Anyways time to cry myself to sleep. Hope everyone else is holding up out there.

 

So basically, they said they ran out of 680M just after they've sent your laptop?! Congrats Apu! I'm so envious!

I can relate, n0j0y, as it seems I got the exact other end of the stick of what Apu got: I Emailed my reseller right after my money transfer, they said they can see my transfer but my order status never changed. On the next day I saw that some of the parts I ordered were currently out of stock, including the 680M and 8GB sticks of RAM, so I thought that they started working on my order and because of that they're out of stock on the items I ordered and I was telling myself stories that I'm about to get the laptop.

So I waited patiently, and the very next day my order status FINALLY changed to....'Money transfer received'

And that is after 2 months of waiting for my order and refund from another lousy store. My luck sucks

 

I guess I got super lucky. I must have gotten sagers last 680m in stock. Works amazing though! Glad I purchased the NP9150! They must have built my laptop, then shipped it, and then emailed me that there are no more 680m's in stock. And then realized that they shipped my laptop and it did have the 680m. They told me my computer was in processing after it had already been shipped and then quickly changed the status to shipped. haha guess i got lucky but the wait was terrible!

 

That is the kind of luck that I don't have! HA! Congrats Apu! I look forward to your review.

I started my order a good 2.5 months before I'll be home, so if there are any build delays, they should be handled before I get boots on ground and go searching for the magical box. From what I was told last night, my lid is prepped and awaiting paint. Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

 

It's funny though, because I usually have terrible luck! For example, my junior year of high school I broke my leg on the first day of school at football practice and had to miss a month and a half because of surgery and hospital stays. So I don't understand where this luck came from, but I will sure as he'll take it haha.

Day 13:

Hope has turned to despair. I have begun to see gargoyles when I close my eyes. Am I awake or asleep? In a fit of desperation, I have installed a load of Steam Summer sale purchases on my Dell D830. If I lower the settings enough, I can almost mouse through the menu.

Help me Mythlogic, you're my only hope.

 

Side note: Id love to see the stats on number of hits to the order status page on Mythlogics site for the average user per day. I cant be the only one that hits it 20 times a day.

 

Also on day 13, it's 100+ degrees outside for the entire day and my gigantic backlog of games on steam just sits there and laughs at my pitiful single-core celeron nettop. It's so bad I can't even watch people play games on youtube

 

So my computer can render youtube videos, IF my hotel I am at this week didnt have a .2 Mbps connection. BUFFERING!!!

 

Who did you order from?

 

They would probably get a lot of money if they put a couple of ads there

Just my luck, running out of 680M's right when they got my money. Still out of stock, probably will get the GPU tomorrow and only THEN I'll have to wait some more until they'll actually build it. After more than 2 and a half months of overall waiting for a laptop, I'm really freaking out over here

 

@N0j0y: You should be able to play Quake Classic (single player) or any of the Classic Doom series. I was playing those on integrated graphics of a Compaq 15 years ago. Tiny files too. The download shouldn't take but a few mins via steam even on that craptacular wifi!
