Hi, I'm eyeing a cheap Clevo P150HM with a defective 6970m, which I might try to bake. If baking does not fix it, I wan't to swap my 5870m from my older MSI GX660 to the Clevo, is that possible? And would a BIOS update be necessary on the GPU?

EDIT: Also how would the cooler work? Is the MXM also a standard for coolerfitting?
    Regards
    Jacob

No, the card typically needs to be a clevo/sager one.

So no hope, not even some custom bios for the GPU will do the trick? Back when I got my GX660, I heard of multiple people using higher-end cards in the laptop, like 6990M or GTX680M. Is Clevo/Sager more restricted in this area?

BTW these are the specs of the laptop I'm considering buying:

    Intel Core i7-2670QM 4x2,20GHz (Turbo 3.10GHz) 6MB cache

    Kingston
    8GB DDR3 DualChannel RAM

Seagate XT 500GB Solid State Hybrid Drive

    Radeon HD6970m 2GB

    15.6” FullHD-LED Glare panel
    1920x1080

I can get it for about 200USD, and the only problem with it is the GPU failing when running Windows normally. In safe mode, it runs perfect. I was thinking that the RAM and Hybrid drive is worth 200USD on its own.

It's not worth getting the HM machines.. They're a pain when it comes to GPU's etc.. Try getting a P150EM machine or so..

No chance really, have you considered a 970M in your current machine? The standard MXM structure systems seem to have got on well some of the older systems.

Well, I bought the machine, and will try to bake the 6970M and hope for the best. I will probably be able to sell my GX660 for around the same I bought the P150HM for.
