hi...im going to do processor swapping for the M860ETU...
recently got P8700 then now going to Q9000..
i wonder if theres a need to reinstall the OS?
i tried once replacing my HDD without reinstall the OS , but do it worked with processors?

Why the q9000? i would buy the QX9300, that will actually give you better performance, and right now only a portion of the software support quad cores anyway.

I upgraded the processor in my np9261 twice and had to flash the BIOS. The first time I had to re-activate Vista using its product key, the second time I needed to instruct the device manager to unistall/reinstall the processor because it didn't show all four quad cores (it did show two old duo cores and to new quad cores).
But no, you won't have to reinstall your OS
