Hello I recently received my NP8150 and when I ordered it I had the SSD in the optical bay but recently learned it couldn't take advantage of SATA III speeds if it was in the optical bay so I am moving it to the regular hard drive bay.
I have removed the optical drive caddy and see the SSD, and I also see the regular hard drive in the HDD bay. My question is how to take out the hard drives. Sorry I don't have any experience with taking things like hard drives out so I am not sure. I assume they just pop out (or do I need to unscrew something), but I want to make sure so that I don't do anything stupid. So I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could give me some very detailed instructions on how to remove the SSD from the ODD caddy and the HDD from the regular HDD bay to make it so easy to do that even a caveman could do it![]()

Hey
For the HDD bay, once you get the cover off there should be a little pull-tab on the HDD itself, its not screwed in, just pull it back towards away from the back of the machine and it should pop right out.
The SSD in the caddy, there should be 4 screws on the bottom of the caddy holding the SSD in, remove those and it should slide right out.
Just take the plastic pull-tab off the HDD and attach it to the SSD, and screw the 4 screws into the HDD in the caddy and you should be all set. -
thank you so much for the super quick response, sounds and looks easy enough to do!

just about done...are the two screws that are holding the pull-tab on for the HDD necessary for it or can I use those two screws to attach the pull-tab to the SDD. i only ask because it looked like the screws had some type of thread-lock on them, which seems strange if it is just there to hold the pull-tab on
thanks! -
They probably just have that blue nylon on them, they are just there to hold the plastic on (Be nice to that plastic its pretty flimsy) you can use those 2 screws to attach it to the SSD no problem.

All done and put back together! It's awesome that these laptops are so easy to upgrade and swap things like I just did. More companies should be like Sager. Thanks bunch for the help and quick response mythlogic!
