Man, how could I have missed the NP2090! All I wanted was the lower resolution coupled with a 8600GT. Since the Zepto 14" aren't in the US market, the IFT00 doesn't look like it's going to be around, and the Compal IFT90s only have the 8600GTs with an insanely high resolution, I gave up 2 weekends ago and bought a Mac.

Although the LED backlight is impressive, everything I do, I do slower in OSX. Everything that is supposed to be impressive about OSX and iLife is overrated, depending on how proficient one is a computer.

Oh well, off to the selling wagon, <End Rant>.

That's just the Compal IFL90, isn't it? I think I prefer the G1s as a better MBP alternative, though the long batter life of the IFL90 is nice, too.

Yup it's just a re-labeled Compal IFL90. But Compal only has 2 versions, a GT with high res and a GS with low res. I was unaware of this Sager that has a GT with low res. Yes, the G1S is a high res beast...my eyesight sucks, so it wouldn't be the best fit for me personally.

Compal has the low res GT, it's just XoticPC and such aren't carrying it. You can find it in europe, and obviously Sager and Zepto have it, just relabled.

Compal actually has about 6 versions of the IFL90 including a WXGA+ (1440x900) w/512MB version.

It is just up to the various OEM's to determine which version they want to carry.

Also, please understand that there is no Compal "brand", Compal is not an OEM in that they only build the barebones, and they do not brand or market to the retail market...so the IFL90 isn't "re-labeled" anything, rather it is labeled (or branded) by each or the OEMs using the Compal barebones to build their laptops including PowerNotebooks.com, Sager, Xoticpc, Zepto and many, many others.

The G1S is a matter of taste. I think it'd be a sharp looking laptop without the lights and green keys. I'd rather own a IFL90 though, although I wish the IFL90 had the e-sata port....

Thanks for the clarification Donald. Wow, a (1440x900) w/512MB would be perfect...by chance is powernotebooks ever going to have these or are the options currently displayed about it? I would much rather give your company business rather than Sager direct.

We are considering the (1440x900) w/512MB at this time, and if we decide to take it on we will have it as an option on our PowerPro J 10:15. We should be making our final decision within the week.

However if you decide on the Sager, there is no need to go Sager direct instead of buying from PowerNotebooks.com and miss our better pricing and Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Customer Service (Sager's is only West Coast business hours) :)

That's one reason. I'm very picky with resolutions. 1440x900 on a 15" laptop or a 19" desktop is "perfect" in my opinion. 1280x800 on a 13/14" is also close to perfect. The whole 1680 x 1050 on a "15 on gaming laptop is insane. The text is so small at this point it starts to hurt my eyes and gives me a headache. Also, I found that I almost never game at those high resolutions so yes I would rather have a low res screen that I'm comfortable with AND would run games faster than chancing it with a high res screen that would make me ill. At least it would more/less guarantee that the 8600GT on a 1280x800 would be able to handle Crysis at fairly high settings.

Oh wow, yes, keep us informed about this. In the mean time I'll just be in the selling process for the MBP.
