I haven't got my notebook here so I'll do my best to describe what's happening from memory, sorry.

When I boot into Vista, I get the message as per title above. I think I might have accidentally disabled some service or deleted something with ccleaner...

The thing is that my touchpad works normally. However I do want to get rid of the annoying message that it has stopped working.

Does anyone have a clue on how I can remedy this? Thanks.

Did u try installing or re-installing the latest drivers? Go to Control Panel-->System-->Hardware-->Device Manager and look for Synaptics Touchpad and try and update the driver from there...or u can try uninstalling it and restart the computer...which will re-install the device and update it to the latest driver.

See if there is a service related to it by doing a Start-->Run and type services.msc and hit enter. Look for something like Snyaptics Touchpad...If there is such a service set it to automatic and restart it...

I'd try uninstalling the synaptics driver(s) completely and then reinstalling them. It's possible that one of the components got deleted, and the other components that rely on that deleted component are no longer functioning.

Ccleaner for some reason puts the synaptics registry items in things that need to be fixed. Its pretty easy to tell which ones are which but it is very inconvenient to uncheck them all.

Oops forgot to update the thread!
I reinstalled the synaptics driver and solved the issue.
