It's old news, but a few days ago Synaptics released the first drivers with Windows 8 support. Even the v16 on station drivers didn't have the gesture suit, this one does.

Whenever I tried to download from Synaptics site, didn't work. Found a S.Korean mirror (much faster) luckily.

Dunno, didn't download those. I'm just going with what has been officially released by Synaptics for Win8, and as littlecx has noted, it's different. Even the interface and far more support for Win8 gestures. They aren't the same, these have just hit the net about a week ago.

Installed the official drivers and gone freaked out that the normal "Scrolling" didn't work.

It turned out that both vertical scrolling and horizontal scrolling options were disabled by default.
Had to click the gear icon next to Scrolling option to configure and enable them, lol.

Fair enough, though these also supported the windows 8 gestures, i'll have to see if these are better.

Yes, the stock v16 before, did, but it lacked the gesture suite that Synaptics been working on for Win 8. These appear to have them. So you should definitely see differences in UI and more options.

I have found myself using those.

The UI could definitely still use some tuning, it's still frustrating to reach certain things.

However battery life is now really good.
