    Hey guys,

I've been playing Swtor for a week now, and on days that I play many hours non stop- eventually I will get many system beeps for around a minute, followed by an instant shutdown, aka power off.

It can very well be the game, meaning it is causing something to go off. I do see artifacts before it happens. The graphics chip is at 75°C then.

What is bothering me is if I use Fn+1 to fully power up my fans, I get the identical pattern: about a minute of beeping, followed by the power off.

This must be a sign for something. Does anyone know where I could find out what my laptop is trying to tell me? If I restart, I can easily play another 6 hours without anything happening. Thanks

    Franz

Usually that beeping is the universal "oh crud something's wrong" of course but the cause is the biggest question. Your GPU temps look good, how does your CPU temp look?

Edit: Also, how many beeps do you hear, and are there any discernible patterns?

If I recall correctly, I do believe the computer's beeping is its way of telling you something is wrong with the hardware. It is kind of like computers' version of morse code. You should pay attention to the pattern or number of beeps.

There is no discernable pattern. Very consistant beeps, once every ~second. I now fully comprehend what within the game causes the behaviour, leading me directly to assume it's something with the graphics card.

Still, what could possibly go wrong if I force the fans on full blast? That the fan itself is faulty? Hm.

An RMA is probably in order with your reseller I would suspect...More than likely some sort of hardware failure :(

RMA means I email Sager and ask them what's up?

Urgs... first thing's first, stress test the laptop and see what happens. What is a good stress testing program, for the graphics card / cpu?

Prime95 for the CPU, 3DMark for the GPU/whole system. Don't use Furmark as it is not a recommended test due to the actual stresses it puts on all the hardware. It can in some cases fry otherwise working parts (though this is rare).

Ok, thanks. Will do. However, beforehand, I forgot to mention.

CAPS and NUM LOCK blink with the beeps, so there must be a definition in the BIOS somewhere what it means? Isn't this a code or something?

Also, I put on a new EC/KB version, 09, which I downloaded here. I get the feeling the beep is caused by high fan speeds.

    Ok, another update:

I took out the fans, blew out the dust, and the fn+1 beeping is gone. Weird.
