    Where did you get the pricing (343.88) for the X9100?

    There's quite a few on eBay for that price, all from one seller.

    Probably B1 stepping too.

    Some P8800s will probably pop up soon.

    Can someone just 'quash the notion that they'll be a P9700. There's been rumour since the T9900 and P8800 came about amount but nothing to substantially prove it even exsits yet.

    I mainly say this because I don't want to buy a P9600 with a better 'P' rank chip on the way in.

    and

    Unless you're really fussy about that extra 9 TDP increase.

    I wanna get the P9700 as well but as long as I can get a good deal on a P9600 or 9500 I will get one of these until then.

    Where has this P9700 speculation come from?

    I think its coming from the apparent redundancy of previously released chips from Intel for new lines a month or two after they go into circulation.

    X9100 may be cheaper at the moment, but:

    X9100 = 44watts

    T9900 = 35watts

    Looks like the T9900 is cooler running. God Bless :)

    Just type it in or look around. As I said this is pure speculation with no proof to back it up. Jus' asking if anyone can say otherwise.

    Thinking about it - with a new P8** series and T9** series coming out soon it makes you wonder why a new step-up in the P9** series hasn't been developed.

    Okay, I was digging around in some of Intel's data sheets, and I found this:

    [IMG]

    Thing is, the P9700 and P8800 have been in the plans since the original document was drafted (July 2008), but Intel hasn't (yet?) gone forward with production. T9800, T9550, P9600, and P8700 were just added in January of this year. No sign of the T9900. I was told about five months ago, by an engineer, that the T9900 was a test case and probably wouldn't see mass production, but now it looks like it just might.

    Perhaps they are in the pipeline but they've been a bit too eager in the announcements and they haven't quite got things pinned down yet.

    that is a s spec oem chip but 500$ is crazy for the difference over the t9800. the t9900 is a overclocked t9800 from what the intel tech i spoke with said. so it will run hotter also. the t9800 ROCKS for temps mine in the msi idle at only about 30-32 and max at 100% at around 65-67..

    Mine idles at 32, but will get way into the 70s if I max it. I probably did a horrible job with the AS5, but I'm too lazy to go in and redo it so I just undervolted it instead.

    Is it possible to run the T9800 at higher clocks? (i.e. overclock)
