I have the standart drivers on my integrated audio (P150HM) and Im wondering if I should install THX as well. It overrides the Realtek equalizer and stuff, yes? Is it worth it? How's the sound?

I had THX for a while, back when I first purchased the laptop and had my OS on my Samsung 320GB drive installed.

Later I bought my OCZ Vertex 3 and since I moved to the SSD, I never bothered to reinstall THX. Completely forgot how it sounded. I was using my external audio interface anyways.

Now that Im putting the audio interface for sale, Im back to my onboard audio and wonder if I should install THX again.

    Thoughts? Advices? Comments!

Massive for me because you can control the entire subwoofer frequency and central surround sound. It was a must have compared to the awful standard realtek output.

Make sure you go into the THX options and tweak your subwoofer crossover to get full clear bass.

And for headphones usage? Does it improve anything?

i dunno about u guys, but afaik (and also based on my own experience) the headphone jack audio output was the only real annoying flaw on the P150HM. to me it always sounds too tinny, low and theres no real bass power, no matter if THX is installed or not. just my 2 cents...

    cheers

For headphones it's going to be minimal. The real benefit normally is that it boosts the output of the subwoofer. When you're on headphones, that obviously doesn't matter. If the output sounds good to you now, then there's no sense bothering with the THX install.

I say use the THX. I notice a decent different with my external speakers with it on vs off.

My ONE complaint about the THX software that sucks is after every reboot if you have external speakers you have to go back in the darn settings and take it off headphones and change to external speakers.

I am using Logitech THX speakers so they seem to work great together with THX certified software :)

Anyway install it, see how it sounds. If you don't like take it back off. Worst case you wasted 10 minutes of your life and a 15 second reboot :)

For headphones though it makes it slightly worse. The laptop's output is so terrible anyway. Lots of noise and it doesn't even get very loud. I plug my 280ohm headphones into it, and it's whisper quiet. I realize that you are supposed use an amp, but if I plug into my htc evo 4g it's fairly loud and no hiss at all. I just use a x-fi hd usb now

For speakers yeah it makes a good diff

Im using external 2.1 speakers, so maybe I won't bother installing THX.

I hope the Clevo EM series chassis will have overall better sound. Better speakers and, by God, I hope they also boosted the headphone output too.

Right now, only my audio interface can power the Sony XB700 headcans I have. AND - Im gonna sell it. So it will be a while before I enjoy listening music with my headphones again.

Get an Amp/headphone amp for better audio quality instead of THX crap.

Haha indeed, especially in the EM series, the sound should be improved severely!
